I remember in the 1980s when British hostage Terry Waite was featured in the nightly news on at least a weekly basis while he was being held hostage by Lebanon's Islamic Jihad Organisation (had to Google the name of that terrorist militia and it appears they were a precursor to Hezbollah). Yet here we are, nearly 40 years later and the name Emily Damiri only became known to many of us just 24 hours ago during her release. How times change...

George M, do you feel the same about dual national British Iranian Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe?

I'd also wonder why there has been so little made of the many Palestinians held without trial in Israeli jails. They are also victims of oppression and terrorism I'd contend.

It's good to see hostages, from both sides, being released. It's just a shame that Netanyahu and chums felt it necessary to first murder tens of thousands of civilians before they were compelled to agree to a ceasefire. I suppose there's not much left of Gaza for them to destroy.
Funny Malvolio responds to George but can't respond to an honest question from you.
An Israeli held for a year & bombed continously by her own side must have been pretty traumatic.

At least Waites 4 years in captivity his own side didn't try to kill him by bombing the crap out of where he was held.

Let me be clearer for you boni0, the point I am trying to make is to highlight the media coverage of British hostages throughout the ages. Possibly something you have not considered?

Absolutely. We all know why the BBC like to stick British on this. A transparent ploy for us to hate Palestinians even more.

I’ve not considered it because it’s of little consequence compared to the wholesale slaughter of innocents being committed by Israel. Do you still support Israeli atrocities in Gaza?

I note that the "ceasefire" agreement isn't worth the paper it's written on as the Genocidal Israel state launch a military offensive in the illegally occupied West Bank.

That's just a slight of hand to enable the Genocide to be expanded to fresh Palestinian lands.
