Our esteemed moderator, thinks only oldies can get Covid-19, (that is over 50s)
Let's hope he educates himself, to realise, youngsters are just as vulnerable, and can pass it on to oldies.
Lock all the under 30s up till there's a vaccine.

Never said that. You misunderstand.

There is a big difference in testing positive for the virus and dying from it. Almost no-one under 50 is dying or becoming seriously ill from covid19.

I know 5 people under 50 through work still suffering nasty effects after a mild dose of it. Fairly small percentage of people given the number of us getting positive antibody tests but not much comfort for them. That's without recognising the impact of people who are asymptomatic spreading it around to people who are vulnerable.

Despite all the coverage there really are a lot of people who were safely working from home all the way through who really don't have a f*cking clue how bad it was. Yes, they were over 50, so in your view dont count but I know three people personally who died, all were in reasonably good health for their age. I know other people who have lost several family members. Still, much more important that you don't get too bored.

Not really. In Italy between 10-15% of all patients in intensive care were under 50 (source: WHO).

Sure, it affects older people more, but if you think that younger people are safe then you're kidding yourself.

Arizona: 11% of total cases in those younger than 20.
California: 8.4% in those younger than 18.
Mississippi: 9.4% in those under 18.
Washington state: 11% in those 20 and younger.
Tennessee: 4.5% of cases involving those 10 and under, and 11% for those 11 through 20

This is for people 20, nevermore under 50

I know that's American data, but Covid-19 is Covid-19 wherever it strikes

Prove it? I quoted a source - why don't you prove almost no-one under 50 is dying or becoming seriously ill. Hang on, I know why.

I get a strong sense from your many posts on this that you REALLY want to believe this is something that just affects the olds. But it doesn't - I hope you don't make any bad choices as a result.

your mind is obviously closed on this subject, and no amount of reason will make you change it, so im not trying anymore.
you have your opinion, and I genuinely hope you dont make bad choices, and live to regret it.

But you haven't answered his post.

You've just repeated his response, presumably with an inner sarcastic voice. That's the stuff of the playground.

If you take the total death figure, which is around 47,000, that will give a figure of around 18 deaths of people between 40 and 49, not insignificant to the 18 families involved.

Of course not, but we don't know the circumstances of those 18 and statistically it is a very small %

Those stats are very interesting. The one thing missing is how many of those unfortunate deaths are people with already underlying medical conditions. Such things are likely to inflate the percentages.

This is the usual play that the numbers are hugely skewed by "existing conditions" but in reality, are they really? Just to drill down into this:

Scenario 1 - man/woman is mid 70's - gets bronchitis very bad every winter - catches covid and dies. Record as Covid death or not?
Scenario 2 - man/woman is mid 70's - has pneumonia but is recovering in hospital - catches covid and dies. Record as Covid death or not?
Scenario 3 - man/woman is mid 70's - has terminal cancer with a year max to live - catches covid and dies. Record as Covid death or not?

My point is that we don't know what percentage of recorded Covid deaths had underlying conditions, and what percentage of that number shouldn't be attributed to covid, if covid is what finished them off.
