What’s the point of this plus everybody washing their hands if we’re not health checking people on flights from Coronavirus hotspots. China are checking inbound flights and found four passengers with the virus from Tehran. At all our airports passengers can just stroll through, no questions asked

Corona Virus hotspots could literally be anywhere - couldn't they? Indeed, you may well be coming back from Lanzarote; sitting next to someone who has just also visted Northern Italy, China, etc. So, in effect, what you are suggesting is that every person coming through an airport (or port) is checked for Corona Virus. How would that work exactly?

Where would the required medical staff come from?

Where would this process be undertaken?

Given that (currently) test results take around 72 hours, where would people be asked to stay in the interim?

How would the NHS manage to test the potential thousands of additional samples each day?

If one person is found to have Corona Virus, is everyone else on that particular flight, the various airports they've transited, the hotel(s) they've stayed at, etc. be contacted and advised to self-isolate (even if they are feeling fine)?

In the words of Captain Mainwaring......"I think you're bordering on the realms of fantasy".

The tanking financial markets today are the latest “victim” of the virus.

That’s why I believe a vaccine will be found in double quick time . The incentive is it’s beginning to cost lot of money .

I can’t see how they will find, test & get a vaccine to market before the coronavirus has spread and peaked. I think it more likely the virus strain will mutate into a milder form before then. Lots of us will catch it, and some of the frail & those with underlying conditions will cop it.

The best short term hope is we don’t all get it at the same time, which will cripple health services (as well as the economy). The slowdown in new cases in China is promising, but then we aren’t an authoritarian regime with a compliant population.

Just came back from Singapore, screening at the airport to get out and temperature checks at virtually every building. Sydney had no screening, but has banned flights from China since day 1 and more recently Italy, Korea and Iran

Italy will be the canary in the mine for Europe. The upward tick in rate of infections in the UK, Germany, France and others is matching where Italy was a few weeks ago. If Italy's full on shutdown of the country is successful in stopping the spread, I imagine we'll see something broadly similar here in due course.

Big events will probably be a no-go in the near(er) future, so an upshot of this is none of us will be able to go to Brisbane Road for the remainder of season.

The chief medical officer said today that testing at the airport is ineffective, which is supported by the stats from other countries where it has taken a greater hold than here. As he said just because you test negative at the airport doesn’t mean your not a carrier which has not developed yet.

Lysol the disinfectant kills human coronavirus, look it up if you don’t believe me, it’s been that way for years.

The whole of Italy has now been placed under quarantine. That’s he sort of thing you do for a flu that’s a little bit more than a flu.

Wake up people it’s a bioweapon.

Blamed by the BBC for the fall in markets today. Pity they could not understand that with oil dropping by 20%, that the markets are going to take fright.

Hibiscrub Hand Disinfection is one of the best hand cleansers you can get, surgeons use it and it lasts for up to 6 hours.

Compared to the 30,000+ UK deaths from pneumonia each year, Corona Virus is pretty much a non-starter really, isn't it.

I guess pneumonia just isn't a headline that gets the online 'clicks' these days?

The world health organisation have said the actual death rate is 3.4% please do keep up Redo. It is higher percentage with more vulnerable people and lower if other groups.

The new chasm in society: people who are bat-sh*t crazy, catasrophising alarmists and people who are overtly and deliberately complacent.

I think that here in Sydney , we are resigned to getting the virus and just hoping it doesn't affect too many people too badly.
