It was Liam Byrne (Chief Secretary to the Treasury), not Alan Johnson (who was never Chancellor, though he was Shadow Chancellor for a few months). And the note was "I'm afraid there is no money" - the "left" has been added on to the end in the re-telling.

So Watson has called on steptoe to withdraw the whip along with several other MP's. They are not happy with the way the investigation has been handled and believe that the process was wrong.

Oh dear, here we go again with the labour party.
