Hard to believe with three and a half hours before kick off, there is no definitive statement as to whether the game takes place or not.
It seems like the club are going to force the EFL to make a decision
that in theory can be challenged .
Would imagine Nigel and the club are quite rightly trying to protect our interest which is Β£150,000. Let the EFL make a decision and we take it from there. As has been said other games between Premier and EFL clubs no tests taken, we as is Orient all over in friendship and fairness to our neighnours Spurs agree to test.
I know this is a dreamland idea but if we have to forfeit the game and lose out on tv money, it would be a fantastic gesture for Spurs to compensate us and agree to a pre season friendly game titled the "Justin Edinburgh Cup". The money up front is a life blood for little old Leyton Orient and the publicity for Spurs would be absoloutely enormous. When the pre season friendly is played all gate money could go to Justins foundation and the takings from beverages, food etc could be kept by the home club.
The home club will be Tottenham Hotspur and i am sure they will get their up front tv money they kindly paid to the Orient.
Everyone's a winner Orient, Justins foundation and Tottenham for their fantastic gesture in these times of selfishness and greed.
Far fetched maybe but why not?
I think that NT is simply pushing the EFL
So that they pay us for the T.V rights .
Sky give the EFL money before the competition starts
Which is then passed on to the Clubs .
We have offered as stated in EFL Rule 6.5 to fulfill our strongest current team
"
Each Club shall play its full available strength in and during all Cup Competition matches, unless some satisfactory reason is given. The Board will from time to time issue a policy as to what constitutes 'full available strength'. In the event of the explanation not being deemed satisfactory the Management Committee shall have power to impose such penalties as they shall think fit. The provisions governing disciplinary matters in relation to the Competition are contained in Rule 24.".

Premier League testing is on some sort of graduated scale EFL testing is Positive or Negative.
I know that but the question cannot be dismissed as easily as that. Or are we saying that the Orient squad are only partly positive?
Surely there has to be a consistency between all test completed by all EFL and PL clubs.
There has to be an answer as to why the Orient players were not picked up by the EFL test.
There now has to be a doubt around the EFL tests and whether it is safe for them to continue with league games.
Testing hasn't happened in the EFL since the start of season believe it or not
I personally find that astounding.
So do I.
Its quite possible then, given the numbers involved, that the virus could have been picked during the course of travelling to Oldham for the first game of the season given Greater Manchester was an area on local lockdown.
There is no conspiracy theory just total disbelief that 3 professional divisions are travelling the country and playing with no tests being completed.

Indeed Ron .
At the least the people tested will have actual results rather than
N.H.S PRESUMED to be ok results !

That also surprised me very much that there's no mandatory testing in the Football League. I doubt we got it at Oldham though, average incubation period is five days and Wilkinson was throwing up when he came off, then he was omitted from the Plymouth squad...

Of course they should
But who pays the 3.5k or 7k
As stated by NT as the cost ?
46 games & tests for all would stand the club in at Β£161,000

If the Government are happy to let this continue they have no grounds to stop grassroots football.

But then thats why over 100 sports asked for more government help last night

The answer will be football has more than enough money when they can pay players Β£600k per week then football should sort its own finances out and it is not appropriate for taxpayers to bail out a business that is awash with cash at the top end

The Premier league & The EFL are 2 different companies & 2 different buisnesses.
Why does 1 have to support the other ?
Morally i agree but legally its not going to happen is it !

I am not saying I agree, but that will be the government position.
it would go down like a lead balloon with the wider public to bail out football with its players getting Β£600k per week when local cafes, shops, pubs etc are going out of business

We are talking clear & direct rules & regulations within 2 seperately owned buisnesses

TONIGHTβS CARABAO CUP MATCH BETWEEN LEYTON ORIENT AND TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR IS NOT TAKING PLACE THIS EVENING AS SCHEDULED.
Discussions are ongoing between the relevant stakeholders in regards to the implications of the fixture not taking place tonight and a further update will be provided in due course.
Leyton Orient, the EFL and the relevant authorities are conducting a thorough review of the clubβs Covid-19 secure procedures with the view to reopening the stadium and training ground as soon as possible.

Think you have lost what little bit of grip on reality you had.
The government are not going to bail out a sport that can pay players Β£600k per week when other businesses are going to the wall and need funds.
given governments are elected by the electorate they are going to act accordingly.
Leyton Orient are not going to be bailed out by the Government when football has an abundance of funding, albeit concentrated in the hands of a minority
No idea what your reference to clear and direct regulations etc has to do with what the Government's position will be.

This is why spen
You claim football has enough money to survive .
I think my grip on reality is ok
I mean we saw the lengths those super rich football clubs went to to save Bury & Macclesfield .
I seem to remember that Sports including Football
Were offered furlough payments during lockdown
Government help was easily given & the electorate seemed
reasonably Happy about that

If there are six months of Coronavirus alert level 4 and there is a suspension of games for any period of time, I suspect a large number of clubs will go to the wall. From what I heard on Talk Sport earlier, many Championship clubs were running with player's salaries at over 100% of turnover; Reading at nearly 200%.
Ironically as Travis stated earlier, Teague and himself can afford to prop up Orient as the shortfall is only Β£1.5 million. Won't be the case for Championship clubs.

Has anyone else noticed that when certain board members get involved in threads it descends into arguments and goes off tangent.
