The SC have donated £1.35 million over many seasons, if a portion of that were taken up in shares frankly it would make no difference to anything.

Bit unnecessary, calling our fans muppets.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 4:28 pm you should be taking issue with all those muppets who have abused the under 11 ticket scheme in the past and forced the club into taking action.
‘Abuse’ of the system isn’t quite accurate. The club have set the Family tickets up with massive flaws, and have ballsed it up even further by scrapping the U11 ticket.
Why are you getting so touchy over this?

Thanks for the advice, but you seem to be the one with the chip on his shoulder, why not write to Dave Dodd and suggest he buys shares on behalf of the supporters, money is better spent on the floodlights tbh.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 5:49 pmI suggest you write a letter to Nigel, tell him you’ve got a spare £1.35m and ask how much of a stake that will get you. Anyone who abuses the system that is meant to help parents get kids to football at a low price is a muppet - end of. You realise that if the SC had bought shares, the £40k still goes into the club and they can buy the floodlights?

No it’s the clubs fault for setting up a system that is open to ‘abuse’.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 6:40 pmAnyone who abuses the system that is meant to help parents get kids to football at a low price is a muppet - end of. It makes no difference at all. The share holding would be completely insignificant. If you are that unhappy about it speak to David Dodds.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 7:32 pmTop of the JES wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 6:38 pmThanks for the advice, but you seem to be the one with the chip on his shoulder, why not write to Dave Dodd and suggest he buys shares on behalf of the supporters, money is better spent on the floodlights tbh.Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 5:49 pm

As for thinking the owners would just get an extra £40k out of their pockets, I don't see it like you. They would probably upgrade the lights and hope spending a little less on the squad would get the same success as they hoped for if they'd spent more.
You seem to have a lot of bright ideas. Even thought of buying shares in the club to have your say??

Re: Supporters club donate £40k to multi-millionaires
To be fair, we could take them with us or even auction them off to fans when we eventually get turfed out.
There’s nothing we can do about the additional £1m form the SC sitting in Barry and Edwards bank account, sadly.

Would it really be £1m if deductions were made for rent, utilities, admin, stewarding etc?Gary the Plumber wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 10:04 am To be fair, we could take them with us or even auction them off to fans when we eventually get turfed out.

So am I right in thinking that when the supporters club gives money to the club as in this instance, it’s literally with no expectation of any return or stake? It’s just a gift?

Has anyone taken into account the amount of money our owners put into the club and how much they lose every season . Just another WUM thread ,a plumber with no work to do .

Apparently they are making an "investment" which would indicate they anticipate a return on it.
The supporters club are just giving money away.
Can you now see the difference.
Whilst there is a certain amount of Wumery in the Plumbers posts. His point is a valid one.

Re: Supporters club donate £40k to multi-millionaires
I'll ask again - isn't the "donation" / "investment" / call it what-you-will really just a paymnet in lieu of rent on the premises that the SC occupies? - If so, it looks like it works out at about £800 a week - I've no idea if that's a reasonable rent for the space they have, perhaps someone in the know would elucidate ?Max B Gold wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 12:04 pmApparently they are making an "investment" which would indicate they anticipate a return on it.

Also, is there a tax or VAT rule that makes it advantageous to treat the rent received as a donation rather than a flat rent.

I have never heard our owners or any other owners at our level say they expect to earn or get their money back from their club. If you were paying attention you will have noted that the owners stated aim is to try and break even and they are still a long way off doing so. it's costing them £millions to sustain it. If the owners are all in it for a return why did Kent Teague write off £2 million worth of share holding last year?
LOSC have been donating funds to pay for projects around the club for many years - It's been their long stated aim since they were formed that any profit made will go to the club to spend on agreed projects - It's money LOSC have worked hard to raise they are entitled to do with it what they like.

Re: Supporters club donate £40k to multi-millionaires
I was on the SC Committee for several years and as far as I am aware there is no rent charged. Long standing agreement that the club provides space for LOSC. In the early days of LOSC any buiding work or improvements to the old "portacabin" club were LOSC responsibility.StillSpike wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 12:33 pmI'll ask again - isn't the "donation" / "investment" / call it what-you-will really just a paymnet in lieu of rent on the premises that the SC occupies? - If so, it looks like it works out at about £800 a week - I've no idea if that's a reasonable rent for the space they have, perhaps someone in the know would elucidate ?Max B Gold wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 12:04 pmApparently they are making an "investment" which would indicate they anticipate a return on it.
