But at least once they commit the crime they do not come out again in a few years time to do similar crimes again. The Mindsweep wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 5:53 pmThat'll work. The USA with their longer sentences and death penalty is certainly a deterrent, they don't have anywhere near the amount of murders and violent crime that we have. Exactly. No matter what the character of Pomeroy was, and yes it was stupid of him to prolong the argument, especially in this day and age of knife attacks. But the fact is the other guy savagely plunged a knife into his neck and then followed up with another flurry of slashes. The coward almost certainly knew he was going to lose a fist fight so pulled a knife on his victim. Needs locking up for a long time.
Does not seem to happen in UK though does it !
In USA, they get far longer jail sentences or even the death penalty.

OK, so it works so well that there are enough murderers and violent offenders around to keep the figures high despite huge numbers that are locked away unable to add to them.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 6:33 pmBut at least once they commit the crime they do not come out again in a few years time to do similar crimes again. The Mindsweep wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 5:53 pmThat'll work. Definitely need to be looking across the pond for guidance on how to deal with an aggressor who comes off worse.
