We have really high knife crime rates though don't we?
In reality I don’t think we probably do have high knife crime rates it seems to be the flavour for the media not just in London but around the UK
I was brought up in Leyton and they was always someone getting stabbed/shot/baseball batted etc nothing new to me
My mate in the police who works on gangs said the stabbings are far higher, more widespread than what is being reported in the press. He said the press are looking at the tip of the iceberg, if they reported it correctly you'd be shocked.

So it's not down to austerity then?
As you stated on the other thread in your own words it’s scum apparently
Always been scumbags about. Just a lot more of them now.
You didn't respond to the question of whether it is down to austerity though did you?

I would agree with this.
Mere stabbings are no longer reported, even in local news. I know of attacks that have taken place, have seen the crime scene taped off by police and yet nothing appears in the media.
The press only seem to report now when there is a fatality and then they tend to go a bit OTT which is picked up in other counties.
Maybe other countries have similar issue as here but they are more low key in their reporting?
Maybe our media like to highlight the issues in our country whilst other countries play them down?
Maybe we just have more scumbags in this country?

Could you tell me what your version of a mere stabbing is
Asking for a scarecrow

It depends on what else is going on in the news. If there's been a particularly shocking murder or The Sun just fancy doing another 'lawless London' story then there will be a flurry of reports. Otherwise quite true that a stabbing not resulting in a life threatening injury will barely make the local online news.
Plenty of times the police aren't even called and someone turns up in a&e under their own steam either saying nothing or claiming an implausible accident. If the person is over 18 the hospital may not report it to the police and even if they do the most likely action by the police is to add an entry to a database.
That sounds plausible, young kids not reporting things. But the idea of reams and reams of crime scene tape blocking off areas and nothing being reported about it is just nonsense. IMO, of course.
