Would be interesting to go back and see if other clubs had their first game shown. Maybe not because the TV rights were different, but I would guess this is the first time a club promoted to the league for the first time had their opening game broadcast. Also I don't think Fylde nor Solihull Moors nor Harrogate would have had their first ever game broadcast had they made it through the play offs.

There is only one reason they are being shown on the opening day which is the association with the Class of 92.

I think a lot of people have got a very weird obsession with Salford. I couldn't care less about them, I support Orient, or perhaps it's just me!!

Really don’t understand peoples’ obsession with Salford. Their rise through the leagues has been amazing and I suspect the Championship beckons in the next decade, probably sooner. So What. They have rich, ambitious and well known owners. Of course the media will sit up an take interest. Why wouldn’t they? It makes a good story.

Mega. Coronation Street tour booked as well. No offence to Salford but I hope they keep in the same division as us for a while. Great weekend away.

The only reason it is being shown is that it is the game most likely to get good viewing figures. Yes it might be down to who the owners are, but its still true. To a casual observer, this game is far more interesting than ours or any other game in the division.

Salford are the darlings of the football media because of the class of 92. anyone who says different, is kidding themselves
I told everyone i knew back in may, that they would be the first league 2 team to be TV, and im now saying they will be one of the two live games the BBC show in the FA cup first round, whoever they play

Maybe, but there are no League One games been shown on opening weekend and Pompey and Ipswich who are both big clubs and are both away. I suspect the audience would be bigger for either of their games.

Yes it's obviously because of the class of 92. It doesn't mean its not more interesting than most fixtures to the casual observer.

I can guarantee that if they draw, for example, Stevenage away, it will not be on tv- unless the draw is another level of uneventful.

Don't think that they have done this for any other new league club.
