Saw the film today - bit put off by all the gadgetry, but the end was very effective. The film quality was very dark throughout, which was also off-putting.

Skyfall is Craig’s best outing, lower machine-gun video game spree. The motive of the villain is more credible; the scenes in London work very well. Tells a good story; less formulaic. MI6 is more fallible etc etc

Barbara Broccoli has already ruled out a women and rightly so. If you want that type of character go and create one made for a women in mind. Bond is a man in the books and should remain one.

Idris Elba would be good however, I think his age counts against him as longevity would not be great for a series which only films once every two or three years. The young lad from the posh show I’ve never seen is highly rated.

In answer to your question colour does not come into it from my perspective, but a women should not be bond in my personal opinion.

It makes sense if you look at the Craig-era Bond as a standalone arc telling the full story timeline of 007. Hence why his films included so many references to previous films and acted as origin stories for other, we'll known characters.

It's not just a continuation of the character like the other Bonds have been. We also now know for certain that 007 didn't get locked up on Alacatraz Island until he was an old man and Nicholas Cage needed help.

Yeah, the villain was rubbish. There was zero chemistry between Bond and his main bird. And, despite their best intentions, Token Diverse Female Agent was completely upstaged by the excellent Ana de Armas, who was criminally only afforded 15 minutes screen time.

Would have liked more screen time for Fiennes/Harris/Kinnear....incidentally, was the film very dark where you watched it? Did not know whether the colours were deliberately muted or there was a technical problem in the Cineworld where we were perched. (Some people actually walked out)

Yeah, the villain was rubbish. There was zero chemistry between Bond and his main bird. And, despite their best intentions, Token Diverse Female Agent was completely upstaged by the excellent Ana de Armas, who was criminally only afforded 15 minutes screen time.

Liked watching Ana de armas kick people in the face but people need to lose their boners over her as her character of basically an intern/newbie wasnt particularly interesting.

The whole film was a bit of a mess. Must have been halfway through the film before the villain got his second scene.

Theme tune- forgettable, so much so that they had to use an old one for during the film

It is obvious the makers are treating the Craig films as their own little universe, but it just feels wrong to see it brought to an end. Should've left it after Spectre.

I watched it in IMAX and the colours and brightness were spit on. Maybe a technical problem where you were? The film was certainly not dark although some films are made like that - this one wasn't.

Yeah, although I think you're being a little harsh on Ana de Armas. All the supporting characters were poorly written, but I thought that she absolutely bossed every scene she appeared in, even displaying more charisma than Craig.

The theme tune was awful. I can only imagine that the production staff had a bet that they could actually find something worse than the Sam Smith dirge we had to put up with last time.

Personally, I like the Craig interpretation of Bond. I just think his tenure has been blighted by clumsy writing, poor editorial control and on-set production problems. It's been an interesting experiment, but I also think they need to go back to the anthology style films.

I read somewhere that one of the leading ideas for the next Bond film is a 60s period piece. That could be interesting. So long as the writers understand who Bond is - a womanising, hard drinking, hard fighting b*stard who can wear a tuxedo.

Indeed, Casino Royale was a complete reboot (albeit with the same actress as M). Although I'd argue that there was a 'soft reboot' after Roger Moore's Bond; there's a thread that runs through the first 3 Bonds (Lazenby has souvenirs from Connery's films, and Moore goes to Tracy's grave), but once Dalton comes along both he and Moneypenny are suddenly young again. And while M calls Brosnan's Bond "a relic of the Cold War" in GoldenEye, it's ludicrous age-wise to think he's the same agent as the one 30+ years earlier in Dr No.

I quite like that the producers don't bother tying themselves up in knots trying to explain continuity like this; Daniel Craig's Bond isn't Pierce Brosnan's Bond, but M looks the same. Do they bother to explain that? Of course not. I spotted in No Time To Die in the scene with her portrait, another portrait was her predecessor, Robert Brown - and I wouldn't be surprised if there's one of the original M, Bernard Lee, in there too.

As an aficionado of the Bond soundtracks, I appreciated Hans Zimmer's reworking of bits of 'We Have All The Time In The World' and the OHMSS theme in the score. Didn't like what they did visually with the opening gunbarrel though, it was even worse than the one in Spectre - although I suppose I should be thankful that at least there was one at the start, unlike Craig's previous 2 films.

Dunners, you know as well as I do that will never happen. In the land of woke the film industry is right at the top of the pile. Bond will be as busy giving moral lessons as he will fighting villains with every passing film.
