Shameful, utterly shameful. Trying to paint it up with the whole “proud to partner up with and” “links to the community” like it’s some youth club that’s been running for decades just adds insult to injury. Surely this needs to be looked at. Anyone have any idea of how much money the club would make from this?

I mean that's basically what they've done but the other way around
And that is what I have a problem with. I think the link with this mob is unacceptable full stop but Tommy Johnston’s name should be first if we have to accept the renaming.

Sponsored by Waitrose would have increased ‘our stock’ and been better for the house owning community.

Surely gilso, Wilkie and co can find the cash to call it the Orient Hour (not a podcast) Tommy Johnston stand?

It might have been vaguely acceptable if the TJS bit comes first…….but being associated with a business like Cash Converters 😱😱😱

It’s the “proud to be….” and “links to the community” horseshit that really boils my piss. They’re a bunch of pawn shops that charge extortionate rates for loans, and they’re overwhelmingly used by poor people desperate to raise a few quid for some essentials, and by dodgy bastards trying to fence stolen goods.

It’s an absolute insult to TJ and the club should be utterly ashamed of this. I’ll be in the South Stand tomorrow and if I get the chance I’ll be tearing down any sign I can find.

This is a disgrace
So disrespectful, to the Johnson family.
Orient will do anything, it seems, for a few quid however tacky it is

It’s a bad decision and does sully the memory of Tommy Johnson - just as well they didn’t take the money from Tampax, BoHoo or even Mr Kipling

How do we know TJ wouldn't approve of pawnbroking?

Of course they provide payday loans. We talk about being a community club, yet rename a stand after a company that is clearly predatory and has had two class action lawsuits against them. Pretty sh*tty that.

Hope a podcast/someone can put this to Nigel Travis about how this aligns with our values whenever there's a chance.

Does this change my life in any way?
Are we encouraging vulnerable people to do anything injurious to themselves?
Are we espousing bas behaviour?

No. Ergo: A good deal for them and for LOFC.
High horses can be expensive.

A prime example of entirely missing the point. Well done.

Regardless, i stick by it. It’s cheap and tacky, which is right on brand for them. Saying that, I loved a mooch round there as a kid looking at the guitars and pedals I couldn’t afford.
I get the need to find commercial opportunities, but my word please have a bit of savvy on who's money you are prepared to take.
There isn't a lot of positivity from being attached to a firm relies on people that need to sell belongings just to make ends meet.
There seems to be a sponsor for everything now.
Goal of the month sponsor
Shirt sponsor
Back of shirt sponsor
Sleeve sponsor
Social media sponsor
Website sponsor
Training kit sponsor
Mental health sponsor
Etc etc

I prefer the days when Steve Dixon would phone you up & ask "are you sponsoring John Mackie's shorts again" 😂
The clubs become a f@cking huge billboard

Spot on. Been happening for quite while now and theres always a balance with these things. We need to think carefully about the type of club we want to be and how the owners are here to enshrine that. Unfortunately, it’s always likely to go down the path when you have ‘investors’ come on board expecting something back.

I don’t see any issue with trying to get as much money in as possible. If you can find someone to sponsor something, go for it.

But yeah, obviously this was a bad choice of firm to ‘partner’ with. However, in prepared to reconsider if they announce a 20% discount in their stores for season ticket holders.
