Nobody likes red tape. Brexit tape is best.

Those who voted for Brexit because they hate immigrants will also be disappointed once they realise that Brexit (and this government's decisions around it) has removed the UK from Dublin 111. That was the EU arrangement whereby asylum seekers had to apply in the country in which they first registered their claim. As a result of Brexit, the EU countries are no longer obliged to accept back those who succeed in getting on shore in the UK.

Hence Preti Patel's ever increasing fury. Now she is paying £55mill. to the French coast guards in hope that they will stop people from setting off on crossing the Channel.

The media now reports some shortages in supermarkets because a shortage in delivery drivers as vast numbers are getting 'pinged'.

But you can only get pinged if signed up to that particular app. Somehow I doubt that all those HGV drivers signed up for it.
I guess that headlines of that nature really just deflect attention from the more complex reasons?

I'm surprised now they're free to do what they want they haven't set up an off shore processing camp that no one ever gets into the UK from, like Australia

Bit subtle for him mate.

I reside in the EU and am a remainer, but that ship has sailed. However, twice in recent years, EU states have looked for leadership - (1) from the flood of asylum seekers arriving in the east and over the Med, and (2) to handle the union wide Covid vaccine roll-out.
On both occasions, no leadership was forthcoming. (1) almost caused Schengen to collapse and (2) saw only bitter complaints that Boris and Astra-Zenica had cheated.
I'm still a remainer but not so much as before. Next up will be the re-negotiation if the N Ireland protocol. I can see Boris fudging this and turning the green island into a nation of smugglers and we'll see if the EU leadership protects its markets. This is more interesting than last year's Orient games.

Surely we can all point to things we can do now that we couldn’t do before when we were shackled by the EU?

That must be how we measure how much of a success it is?

I'm sure there are, but are employers going to train them and pay a decent wage? From what I've read, they prefer to employ from abroad, keep wages as low as possible.

As a remainer, do you support the race to the bottom the eu enabled? I guess you don't really care, so long as its only the working class jobs affected.
