Perhaps for just this tournament they could have allowed someone to stand in for her as her spokesperson.
Seems like other tournaments are also going to insist on her communication pre and after matches otherwise she cant play.
Perhaps she needs some time out of the game and if she does come back, then just give short and brief interviews until/ if she wishes to do fuller interviews.

High reward game, without the television and media coverage the players would still be getting small cash rewards for their involvement in which case most of those involved in the top professional sport of today would most likely have chosen a different line of work.

Tennis probably has a high degree of its profile due to media rights and it might be time for a tournament "pay structure" be be arrived at with a combination of tournament progression together with a media bonus. That way players can opt out for a known sum - or sign up to the whole tournament on one basis or another. It would probably be a sizable sum but allow people who are affected to withdraw from the limelight.

He had been very keen to interview Megan Markle before her marriage but she did not respond to his request. He had wanted to be her special confidante. Seems that he can't handle it when people don't subject themselves to his demands. With these 2 women who have publicly acknowledged mental health vulnerabilities he seems to be even more persistent and personal with his attacks.
I remember seeing Morgan on the American version of The Apprentice when Trump was the Alan Sugar equivalent. Morgan had no moral compass. For him it was 'winning at all cost'. Not a nice man.

Yeah, because posting a statement on twitter is exactly the same as fronting a media conference.
Press conferences are sh*t anyway. It's only the press and sponsors that want them.
I have no idea who Naomi Osaka is or if she's a goodie or baddie, however I do enjoy watching the media lose its collective sh*t just because somebody won't talk banal bollocks to them.
