You don't have to be old to read a couple of history books.

Listening to the friends of Shirley Williams talk about her passing one of them remarked that she took comfort that she had gone such was the reduced quality of her life at the end.

I think Max's aggressive positioning is an attempt to impress us. When he gets a bit bored, he pushes the cat off his lap, dutifully makes his wife a cup of tea, after he has put down his pipe and donned his carpet slippers. He goes over to his PC and thunders on the keyboard. A bit like Mr Pugh in Under Milk Wood.

Not much of that is right apart from the cat bit. She has been coming in all morning and seeking protection from the mentalist feral cat that passes through occasionally on the way to his next kill. I had to chase him off before he bit my cat again. Last time her leg got infected and it cost me £40 at the robbing vets.

He is scared of nothing and stands his ground like a lion.l caught him with the broom the other week. It doesn't deter him. He always comes back. Tried to boot him in the chops the other night but he was too quick for me.

Anyways don't you think there is comfort to be had when an aged person in distress moves on?

Yes, but you've moved the goalposts a bit. No-one's saying the Queen is in distress (unless she regularly watches the live stream).

You've just added that clause to make your assertion sound a bit less cold-hearted.

No I haven't. I've just demonstrated that not everyone is a "wrong un. End of" should they take comfort in the passing of an old person with no quality of life.

My original statement was about the Queen. Yours wasn't. YOU moved the goal posts.

I think we both know that isn't what happened here. You (YOU!) introduced the quality of life element into all this.

Your original statement was about the Queen, who as far as we know is in rude health. My response was to that - it's pretty obvious since you're the only one suggesting there was comfort to be taken from her passing.

You might be better off just admitting it wasn't a very kind thought, rather than adding extra bits on to make it less unpalatable.

Your response wasn't specifically about the Queen. Hence my broadening of the subject.

It wasn't a kind thought about the Queen. I stand by it. Parasites have no place amongst people.

Fair enough, I don't suppose she rates you much either.

Crikey. Never imagined that Thomas Paine would feature on an LOFC forum. I doff my hat to you
