When Do We Expect to Reveal

Last summer we left it very late to bring additions in, and when we did we brought badly.
Well it's the last day of May, and it feels like it did last season.
All my life I've believed you should get your business done early, or you get left with the rubbish no one else wants.

IMO, we should have brought a player or two in during May.
Let's hope the management get into gear real soon, and bring a few quality people in

Signing the right players is much more important. Because of the 2017 summer people seem to assume that if you sign players late or half-way through pre-season they will be bad and the ones nobody wanted, but I don't think this is the case. Other players could have priced themselves out of moves. or are in contract and available for transfer.

Much prefer that we are patient instead of doing knee-jerk games like with Adams last year, there is plenty of time left and no need to panic.

Last summer you also said (partly because of this) that you weren't happy with the way the club was being run. Look how that turned out.

Just be patient. Players are likely on holiday at the moment. There will still be transfer related movement going on behind the scenes. And it's better to wait for the right players and genuine upgrades than just load up with squad filler for the sake of it.

This is the thing. Players become available as the summer goes on - either as a result of having to lower their expectations or wage demands, or clubs allow contracted players to move if it looks like they will not feature as much as expected in their plans.

Sure, we know what he can do at National League level. I wouldn't be anti signing him, as long as he's not the only central midfielder coming in (surely we will sign two).

I'm all for discussions about signings on this board. I must say though that so called good and bad signings don't mean a lot until they actually start playing. In the past we've made loads of signings that looked good on paper but turned out to be rubbish (Jamie Cureton comes to mind).

Some players shine in some teams and not in others. A lot of it is luck with signings.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back, although the management might not want to deal with his agent or the player again. Once bitten twice shy and all that.

Every club has 1 or 2 signings that don’t quite hit the mark

Of course we had a brillIant season but it has to be recognised that Alabi and Gorman didn’t contribute as much as we would have liked leaving it to others to carry the load. But of course not every signing will work out and on balance results suggest we got it right more than we got it wrong. Given our results it’s hard not to trust Ling and Edinburgh to get it mostly right.

Patience. It will happen.
