''Rome was not built in a day''
Jobi is new to this job and he needs time to implement his ideas, training methods, tactics etc. Lets see where we are after something like his first 8 games in charge then a clearer picture may be starting to emerge. He has not inherited a particularly brilliant squad of players, so tactics have to be worked out and evolved to try to achieve better performances using the players that he has at his disposal.
Sid, I would go further and say McAnuff should be given his chance until the end of the season. That should be a reasonable time to see if an improvement can be achieved.
I think the concern is that based upon recent experience with RE the Board seems to 1:- allow “ interim” to become extended and then “ permanent” when results on the pitch don’t warrant it
2:- have a bit of a blind spot in respect of in house appointments and has an over sentimental approach to addressing underperformance
Yes I did not mean that he would be removed after 8 games if results are not that great, just that it will take at least 8 games or so to see a clearer picture of how if any, progress is being made. I think that Jobi will be seeing the season out, then his position will be reviewed and if he has done ok, then I would guess that he will be offered the job full time.
You are probably right although what is considered “ ok” may be the crucial point?

I’ve never liked this interim title as it indicates to the players they may not be here long. That can cause a problem if you have a player(s) who have an agenda or like to cause issues. I’d have preferred it if they would have said Manager end of, that sends a message to everyone who the boss is long term, in the background both sides can have an “out” inserted in the deal, but not disclose it. You can see from Jobi’s first interview he was saying he wants the job full time so why not give him that? By making it interim have they undermined him with the squad?

History repeating itself, had a similar charade with Embleton. If the board feel he's the man for the job back the guy now and get the players we want to retain to buy into the project.
