I don’t see them particularly outplaying us so far. All I see is two poor teams not being able to play football in these conditions.

Yup. Compare their width to ours. Jobi is the only finding useful pockets of space at the moment but he's got no one supporting him so he has to run with it himself. Everyone has the same problem. The ball comes to them and their options are slow the play down and go sideways or backwards or run with it themselves at which point they invariably get dispossessed.
Not watching but it sounds like an unbalanced team.
No surprise.

I don't see who's acting as our pivot. Traditionally your central striker (when you're playing 1 up top) comes short and acts as the pivot to bring, typically, your 10 and your wingers into play. Our number 9 is a poacher so he's moving away from play as we move up the pitch. This means that when the ball goes wide our striker is actually pinning the opposition defence back thus creating the very compactness the opposition are hoping for. That means when Kemp or Wilko cut inside they've the entire backline facing them. Its not impossible to play with an attacking 9 but you can't do it the way we're doing it.

Even the usually enthusiastic Dulcet Dave said the first half was unmemorable.

Kemp has looked good. Apart from that not much to take from this 1st half.

I dunno. He's looked better than most just because he's got quick, tidy feet. In general he's found time and space and support as hard to come by as everyone else. We need to change something. I honestly don't remember Freeman touching the ball. Did he? Is he even on the pitch?

Correct and if you look at their defence when they have the ball, people are showing in midfield wanting it, if it goes wide two players want it, if they come inside the same thing. Thompson gets the ball off the keeper and no one moves to him, no one shows up for him and he goes long, nothing wrong in that either by the way. I’m just highlighting the contrast between the two teams and how one team is showing and wanting to take responsibility and the other that doesn’t want that.

Secondly see how much quicker they move the ball.

Has anyone picked up anything off our bench tonight? The only time I saw something it looked like everyone was just sitting down. Is Ross and Danny communicating with each other or are they poles apart like at the weekend game?

Freeman has been poor the last two games. Not sure what he is supposed to offer. Kemp been decent enough. Thompson having another good game. Overall, thin gruel. Really poor. Both teams.

We could really do with the points here. The three teams behind us can all go ahead or level with us if they win their game in hand. We've got a +7 goal difference on Walsall but that can change quickly. Sitting in 11th is mediocre but dropping down to 14th at this stage of the season is crap.

Thor's right they're quicker to the ball. It's the football equivalent of a handful of Mogadon.
