Played so bad you'd think they'd missed a load of football and contracted a virus or something.

Re: Time to get rid
Even before that defending was creaky, bailed out by the purple patch Johnson has been on since start of the season. Covid or not the warning signs were there, just not scoring quite as many now so it's narrow losses rather than heroic comebacks.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 9:52 pm Played so bad you'd think they'd missed a load of football and contracted a virus or something.

Carrying ling (not tonight I know) coulson, widdowson, Wright , Dayton , Wilkinson.
Not going to win many games when you’re carrying that load I’m afraid. Wenger or Ferguson would have trouble getting results with that lot. The job is far too big for Embleton in my opinion.

I agree wait until the transfer window shuts But dont bring another right back in or a centre half who you play at right back and a left back who now plays centre half. It all looks lop sided and frankly stupid.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 9:05 pm Wait until the transfer window is shut and give it another month or so. Unfair to judge RE and the team at this point, especially with that Covid f*** up. Give Ling a chance to give RE the tools he needs to give him the best possible chance of succeeding. I'm not convinced he's the right man to be manager but it's what we have right now.
If things are poo poo mid to late November then look at it again.

Losing away to a team in the playoffs by one goal after half your squad got coronavirus is no shame.

Re: Time to get rid
Just try the three centre backs and two wing backs...please! Flat back four lacks pace and full back positions are a mess.
Something like:
Akinola, Turley, Happe.
Judd/Thomas/Ling Brophy
Obviously when all fit or not suspended.

Ross says in his interview that he spoke to Ian Holloway & they
Only had 1 player with the Virus .
Come on if you are going to slag off then get the facts correct.

Would that be accepted during the whole period of there
lockdown, whilst Tranmere are asked to play last Saturday with
a number of players on lockdown and yet Grimsby could cancel
matches whilst only missing one player ..

Exactly. It’s the players NOT the head coach.Huxley wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 9:19 pm There’s no way Boss is getting binned unless we end up rooted to the bottom of the table for a couple of months. So get used to him being here.
As I really can’t see fans being let into grounds any time soon (and I even fear that a number of clubs in our division won’t survive financially to see the season out) I just hope that we stay up.
This season could actually be a blessing in disguise. Essentially players from the conference winning squad will be seeing out the final year of their renewed contracts in a season which I am certain will go down in history as “that weird Covid season” which doesn’t really count for much. Hopefully clearing them out in the summer of 21 ready to rebuild for a genuine play-off challenge in 21/22 when football has finally gone back to “normal”.

That’s assuming of course we don’t end up back in the Conference in which case those players would be fine

Yes we have a few passengers but we also have some quality in Vigaro, Brophy, McAnuff, Cisse, Happe plus Johnson’s goals. The team/squadron is better than the lower mid table finish we look set to achieve under Embleton.

Re: Time to get rid
Agree re WIlko RH, I think he can be good for us.
I’ve watched all our League games this season, not the cup matches, but ultimately I will judge us on league performances.
I think we’ve got the nucleus of a decent side there, but we’re clearly not there at the moment. The defence doesn’t inspire confidence, outside Vigouroux and the first choice centre backs, for opposition forwards are often given way too much space, and we can’t forever be reliant on DJ up front to dig us out the defensive lapses.
I’m not sure why the likes of Judd and JMD haven’t had more game time, and young Norwich full back Thomas not got a sniff in the league.

Re: Time to get rid
I agree. I would prefer to see Wilkinson beside Johnson in a standard 4-4-2. Incidentally, I’d have Widdowson at LB and push Brophy further forward on the wing . Turley has got to start as well either at RB or CB . I’m tired of us conceding soft goals

Any discussion of the current head coach only really requires 6 words:
