The problem starts when the runner isn’t tracked properly. When the ball is on the right Coulson is marking his man and the back 4 are tight. The runner comes in isn’t tracked correctly Coulson then has to step away from his man and then Ling has to come and cover. Thereafter everyone is out of position eventually leaving The winger with time that he shouldn’t have to get a shot off. Track your runner properly none of the above happens.

Agreed. The bloke running off the back of Dennis causing the issue initially, Coulson goes to him. But as he received the ball, Widdowson ends up squaring up to him, leaving all of Coulson, Dennis and Ling to mark what was Coulsons man.

Ling is in the position to call out instructions in that position, he’s the one that can see all the play. He should be demanding Dennis drop back 2 yards so he doesn’t have to leave his man.

To be honest, if ling had stuck marking the left winger, he’d still have been 5 yards off him as he was sh*t scared of getting beaten so it wouldn’t have made any odds anyway.

Both his saves were really good. Probably the best player in this squad.
Almost expect it of him now, saves us multiple times most games
Kind of like, you know, what a keeper should do.
Should be but not always been the case down Orient

Remember Stuart Nelson and the slowest shot ever that went right underneath him in the last minute lol?

Doesn't just happen to us/our keepers though.

He was just making a point. Proof indeed that sometimes he does get closer to his man than 5 yards. Beyond dispute and he has a yellow card to prove it.

Why? That was the best thing he done all game and the closest he got to their 11.

Have a look at 2 mins 30 secs - that's typical of how close he was the rest of the game.

We got very, very lucky.

Akinola switched off and got beaten to the ball. If you want to be generous to the youngster, he may have just done enough by putting hands on him as he jumped...

Only other point to note, as Ross did in the post match interview, is the 'tackle' by their bloke on Johnson on the halfway line could have also been a red card, but was a yellow at the least.

RE: 2.30
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Why would a right back covering the defensive / attacking left side of the pitch
be anywhere near the central right defensive/ attacking side of the pitch ?

Oh dear REDo
You've really caught the Ling Hating bug haven't you

Not sure what you’re watching but by 2 mins and 30 secs I meant when the timer on the video was showing 2:30.

Thats good
What did Ling do wrong ?
He kept his man away from getting a shot on target .

The 11's shot trickled wide of the goal &
we got a goal kick .

Thats good defending !

Not sure if it's a lack of time on the training ground or lack of organistation from RE but we don't defend in banks of 4 and 3 that you see other teams in the EPL playing this formation do. That results in the back four getting pulled out of position and gaps opening up.

That’s not true.

Keeping the back 4 together as a unit is definitely something they’ve tried to work on. They were doing specific drills on that before the Bishops Stortford game. It’s also what’s happening, I believe, when the full backs are staying inside near to the centre half rather than getting dragged out.

It’s going wrong and it’s not working, but they’re definitely aware of it.
