Because just read here for a day. What could they say, and I'd genuinely be interested in your actual wording here, that would come off well and be worth doing?Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 12:07 pmWell, mentioning him in pre match chat would be a start. They talk about everyone else who isn't in the squad (i.e. Turley picked up a knock, we are managing Jobi's fitness).
Not sure why you think updating fans on one of our players would be a negative exercise?

How can it be anything other than negative?
Unless there's a genuine reason such as injury there is no reasonable explanation for it.

Re: Cheltenham ‘highlights’
Well, maybe it depends on your perspective. The answer may be negative, but the process of being open and honest and players isn't a negative thing to bake into your culture.
I'd rather them say, he's not part of our plans and we are looking for a club to loan him to, or we think he is third choice RB so isn't making the team, or he isn't fit, or something else.
Just some clarity on the decisions around his lack of inclusion.

Re: Cheltenham ‘highlights’
I do wonder why no one ever asks the question in interviews.
They might ask about injuries generally, get told about Turley or Dennis or our other sicknotes, but never follow up on Myles.

How can anyone watch the goals back from Saturday and accept that Ling is our first choice RB?

Re: Cheltenham ‘highlights’
Well then it makes it a footballing decision*, so why explain it further and be called out for destroying a players confidence or whatever else people will very clearly say. Maybe get Danny Senda to say it somewhere so then at least it isn't Ross or Ling.
*A footballing decision I disagree with. Obviously Turley is better and I'd prefer Judd.

But the more they dont speak about it the more it leads people to speculation. Myles might have picked up an injury and he just isn't available.
If the club is serious about a challenge culture like Nigel wrote a book about ( i dont think it is) that means openness and honesty to the fanbase/customers. Regardless of if i think Ling, Turley, Judd or Me should be starting at RB isn't really the question.

It's difficult for the dof or his puppet to comment as it would probably sound like Judd has been thrown under the bus. We can all see that from a footballing perspective it doesn't make sense however, there could be other reasons which will never be revealed although leaks would surely get out.
To me it looks like favouritism or worse than that nepotism.

Do you think any other L2 club will give him a professional football contract?

Re: Cheltenham ‘highlights’
Probably yeah. He's played a lot of games. That tends to get another contract somewhere.
Not that I think he's good enough to play in L2 but he's played 100 games at L2 and NL level and played for England C, someone would give him a deal. But I suspect, with his background, ML is probably a good enough father to want his kid to be happier and I'd imagine it must be pretty grim being SL at LOFC right now.

They’re so open about everything else, even stuff that could land them in the sh*t but they’re tight lipped about why players aren’t playing. Because it’s not the fans’ business to know why a player isn’t being selected. Don’t be dense

It was considered our business last year, when Lingy quite happily threw Juddy under the bus viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2457&start=50Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 10:54 am Because it’s not the fans’ business to know why a player isn’t being selected. Don’t be dense

Re: Cheltenham ‘highlights’
This Ling/Judd thing is distraction, when Thomas played there he also left acres of space out wide. It 's clearly a tactic but it appears not to be working.

Re: Cheltenham ‘highlights’
Not that it counts for anything, but here is my ranking for the right backs we presently have at the club.
No 1. Turley
No2. Judd
No 3. Ling
Cannot put a rating yet on Thomas as insufficient games played to form an opinion on him.

Re: Cheltenham ‘highlights’
Not really. These comments date back to late last year. Myles featured throughout the preseason and performed the better of the two at RB. Then the weekend before, the double header weekend when we played Saturday and Monday at Stortford, he’s the only first team squad player not to play and hasn’t been seen since.
It just doesn’t make sense.

Re: Cheltenham ‘highlights’
There really is a lot of paranoia about the right back position, isn't there? Would fans want constant reassurance about our squad players at that position if it wasn't Samling filling that position? I suspect not.
Judd's status isn't being purposely ignored, though would be intetested to hear the club's view.

Re: Cheltenham ‘highlights’
For the first goal, most decent Sunday league team full backs would NOT have given that amount of time and space for that left winger to put over the cross which led to the goal. OMG, he was positioned tight on the touchline with the right back so far away and making no attempt at all to close him down. So much time and space given, he could virtually have steadied the ball on the spot, then walked back and hit the ball over, much as you would with a free kick ! Leaving wingers unmarked, unchallenged etc, with so much time and space to do what they want to do, well if that is all down to some new defensive tactic we are playing, then strange idea that is plainly not working well at all.Beradogs wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 9:20 amYep. I was saying the same on another thread. That is actually one of the worst goals I have seen conceded in a professional football match. If ling is told not to go and cut the cross then fine but as a defender to then wander back like a snail and kind of just stand in the middle of nowhere rather than go straight to the near post or get in front of the forwards is not something I have seen in div 4 of Sunday league. Seriously. He may have had the virus etc but it’s every week. His desire and positional sense is non existent.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 9:28 pm Whatever it is, it has to stop.
That first goal is diabolical. He tucked inside and didn’t know his man was out on the wing, he’d totally lost him. But if for some bizarre reason he’s being told not to attack the winger - which looks like it’s a deliberate tactic, as it’s happening so often - he has to get back to the near post to defend that. But he doesn’t, he’s outside the six yard box doing absolutely f*** all. Coulson has to come across to cover that.
And then, when Coulson retreats to the goal line to cover as a natural defender would do, he’s dawdling around instead of helping out. It’s farcical.
There’s bugger all pressure applied to the winger on the second as well.

Re: Cheltenham ‘highlights’
Well maybe email the club and as a paying customer ask for them to discuss this? I wouldn't mind an answer, but I also just really don't care as much as some do.Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 5:27 pmNot really. These comments date back to late last year. I'd also say sometimes these things should be left alone. Sometimes people are not at work for health reasons, amongst others, and they'd prefer to not talk about. Ask the club maybe, and maybe podcasts can have a go, but if they don't wish to answer that doesn't necessarily mean they are being horrible bastards. We don't know.
