I actually meant couldn't be bothered to read the responses and my point was that the phrase I used is oft overused no matter the sentence, but I've read the report now and apologise. My response was far too glib for such a serious and heinous crime. My mistake, hands up.

Give me a break!!...you want them treated with dignity and respect just like the dignity and respect they showed poor Mr Wilson. When i read the report of what that man went through in the last 10 minutes of his life being constantly, ferociously and violently stabbed to death whilst these two pieces of sh*t shrilled with excitement. They tried to decapitate the defenceless man and ridiculed his words has he pleaded for his life.
Just imagine what the thoughts of Mr Wilson were as he knew he was about to die and not see or hear he's loved ones again as these two celebrated thier actions. I felt emotionally sick and could not imagine how his wife and family are coping.
I dont want those two murderers to breathe and i am not interested in thier rights or the opinions of people who offer them any.
If that makes me a bad person, i'll live with that.
It's the fact this was the template response that tells you all need to know

I used to defend, these days I prosecute.

I couldn't tell you what I would have advised as I have no idea what the evidence was or their defence was. However with a murder case, there is only one possible sentence upon conviction - ie life imprisonment, so no discount for an early guilty plea available. I can understand why defendants run even the most hopeless cases as they have nothing to lose
You work for the CPS?
No. No no. Definitely do not work for them.

Never have worked for them thankfully

Why do you feel compassion for this duo?
I just think it is one of the bases of a just society to treat absolutely every single person with dignity and respect, zero exceptions.

Yeah you said, everyone deserves that under the HRA 1998

That's different from being "compassionate to the killers" though

I just don't see the point in being a country that doesn't have a death penalty and then not be compassionate in some way. I don't want their freedoms, and they are going to be locked up for a very long time, but I think creating some sort of connections for them is more likely to result in them being better in the system, and it to not just be constantly horrendous for the sake of it. There isn't a win there.

Are you aware what "compassion" means? Because what you're suggesting above isn't it

And if you are, do you think you displayed it when you gave the template "Gammons are moaning about nothing" response at the start of this thread?

Prestige W - Well we could easily make their time in prison torturous and cruel (much like they were, I know), but there isn't a benefit in it for anyone. It just makes us an angrier society, provides no real substantial comfort for loved ones and I just personally think its wrong. Much like making it horrendous 24/7 for them, there isn't a point. We could make them eat off of the floor, but there isn't a point. I get i'm in the minority here thinking this.

Maybe I'm not aware what 'compassion' means then, but no worries. Every day is a school day.
I'd say having concern or worry about others, or what happens to others. Something along those lines. Am I incorrect?

In a sense yes, i prosecute on behalf of a lady of German extraction called Liz

The CPS are only one of the organisations that prosecute on behalf of the state

Oh right, then yeah, compassion fits. I don't want anyone to suffer really. Even absolute monsters. I want them detained, I'd prefer them to remain useful, I'd prefer to not see society treat its most cruel with cruelty, I'd prefer them to be treated with the dignity and respect they so gravely didn't bestow upon others. I also know people find that upsetting or think that this is putting them ahead of the grieving family, it is not, and nor is upset intended. Just a big ol' leftie I guess. Anyway, you think I'm a bellend, I think you're alright really, lets just bump elbows and move on. I'm sure there's a Labour thread for us to disagree on somewhere.

I'm not sure why i'm bothering, but;

Assuming you mean child sex offenders, I'd like them to be treated with respect, yes. It doesn't mean I support them and hope it is decriminalised or whatever.

Just quoting the definition directly

I know what you're saying, that prisoners should be treated humanely. I just think "Compassion" is the wrong word.
