nope the interview was like Ling had shut the door on this - Ling said we have offered him a contract since November and the club had heard nothing
Need to sort budgets and get players in who want to play
Hundreds of players eagerly looking to play
pre season the time for team bonding, no time for hokey cokeys
Think you need to revisit that Ling interview KC, he clearly says that the club would welcome him back with open arms if he decides that LOFC is where he wants to be. Door remains firmly open.
Oh come on.
He’s laying all blame squarely at Ruels door here. If I was Ruel, Lingy going public like this and slating me would make me only more determined to get out.
Fair play to the kid for forgiving Lingy and coming back in. Let’s hope we can make a proper offer worthy of his ability and get him signed up.
Ling showed poor man-management doing that. Funny, as he is so touchy when he is personally criticised.

The interview wasn’t about man management, it was about absolving blame.

People are making too much fuss over this statement. He has stated the facts as he sees them and been quite open about welcoming him Back. People are just looking to criticise. If he had said nothing at all people would criticise him for that too.

His actions showed poor man management. Absolving blame shows he struck the wrong chord.

Just watched the video with Martin Ling and i dont think he said anything wrong. The situation is two parties are negotiating over a contract, one offers a new contract and the other party either accepts, declines or negotiations continue until agreement or failure concludes the contract disscussions.
The perfect conclusion for everyone would be a contract is signed and if Ruel continues (not guaranteed) with his form before covid then within twelve months Orient will have a £500.000 home grown player on thier books. That would be good financially for everyone.
We need to bring more home grown talent through to generate growth and income at the club. As i said only Happe at the moment but Ruel could potentially be a bigger assett because goal scorers bring bigger transfer fees.

100% This. He's just giving an update, usual suspects criticising as always.

How can I objectively comment. Best I can muster is that statement about poor man management is absolute bolox. About as mild a comment as I can make.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with his comments and anybody who believes that demonstrates poor man management need to do a few more courses. Those comments are fair, welcoming and honest. Well, when I did my training those comments were. Of course the Ling haters will put on the sh*t coloured glasses and see things differently. Grow up lads.

Complete and utter bowlocks. Try taking off your rose-tinted glasses fella. You just don’t get it.

In the Latest Clip On Twitter It Appears Ruel Is Back Training With Orient! Let’s hope he sign the deal.
Maybe the dreams of a big club coming in for him haven’t materialised.
Let’s be honest he hasn’t really proved anything yet. That’s why it makes more sense for him to stay here and develop more before moving onwards
He's proved he is a better footballer than Angol for me. Would have him starting next season if he signs. The boy has got talent.

Absolutely, the greatest footballers are not always the fancy dans but those who can play the game anyway the situation demands. Ruel also has the ability to lose his marker and find space in the box, thus giving him more chances to score.

Funny how some of the 'business experts' on here are happy with a director discussing something thats still within a negotiation. Imagine a FTSE 100 company trying to work out a contract with a CEO and going public about them not signing a perfectly good offer. You keep it internal until its done, one way or the other.

O's fans: What's happening with Ruel? Have we offered him a contract? Why are we being kept in the dark?
Also O's fans: Why are you telling us this?

What a load of complete nonsense.
Comparing this with a FTSE business negotiation is nothing like. Take a look at any club talking about players on social media and you would find something similar took me less than a minute to find this:-
Clubs informing fans of what's going on with the squad has got to be a good thing, no personal details disclosed lots of people asking what the situation is with Ruel and there you have it.

It's always been this way.
There's a difference with discussion who you're in negotiations with and effectively calling a player out who hasn't turned up to training. Why couldn't he have said 'we've offerered Ruel a deal and we are in negotiations, we hope we can provide an update soon?' Thats all we need to know.
If the player in question was Sam Ling, do you think Martin would have said the same thing, in the same way?

All this Ling "calling him out" stuff is rubbish. He said we have offered Ruel a contract he has chosen not to sign it and probably talking to someone else but we would welcome him back with open arms it's up to him, he's technically not contracted to us at the moment and as Ling said he made a choice not to get tested or train although he had now obviously changed his mind. If it was Sam Ling he would have to give an update and the situation would be exactly the same.
Did you read the Northampton article, same situation there but the club chairman giving the details. Some people are so anti Ling on here its embarrassing.

Surely if you have been in daily & weekly zoom meetings & it is quite clear
Everyone is back in on Monday & someone doesnt show up & cant be contacted
For more than 1 day , it must be safe to assume that that someone is looking for
Something different .

For someone who was involved in a fanszine you clearly know f*** all about the game other than you don't like Ling.
Look at any clubs website and you will see updates on out of contract players that the clubs are trying to keep, informing fans that you have offered a player a good contract isn't divulging anything confidential. it's not something that just happened it happens every year when players contracts end or are about to end.
Fans want to know what the is doing to retain its best players, nothing confidential that will worry the stock market in that.

Absolutely no confidential issues with Ling’s comments what so ever. I’m a stickler for confidentiality stuff and nothing of what was said breached that nor was it unprofessional.
People clutching at straws in order to have a dig at Ling. Not this time folks. Nice try, no cigar.

Who said it had to be confidential? It's probably just good practice that if you want someones services, you dont upload a youtube video trying to mug them off. But I'm a millennial, what do i know?
