Serious question.

I’m watching the highlights now on bbc2 and the wicket keeper takes one full in the face after he failed to hold a rising ball. Eventually a sub wicket keeper comes on and he is white, is he the first white person to play for the West Indies?

Thank you.

Tuffers, no I didn’t know the answer, no I’m not fishing or baiting, it was a genuine question, yet still you find a reason to want to turn it into something else. That’s really disappointing.

I thought it was Common Knowledge in England that Cricket is an upper class game
& was played amongst its colonial cousins .

Maybe Education & History in particular needs to be looked at again

But that doesn't mean a white person would have played for the W.I now does it? As we exported the game to many countries the indigenous population would have taken the game up and played it.

You can be proper argumentative over nothing.

Exported the Game
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

You didnt export the game
You exported people to new places ( soldiers/military)
To make bases that allowed people from here to get rich from stealing from people from there .

India & Tea
West inidies sugar & other food stuffs
South Africa Gold & Diamonds .

Those White public school people then played cricket & as the video i posted showed , they got the slaves in the west indies specifically to throw the balls back when they left the pitch .

Stuart Broad takes 500th wicket. West Indies in big trouble at 45-3.

One for future quizzes , kraigg braithwaite was also Jimmy Anderson's 500th wicket at lord's 3 years ago.

All over. England beat the rain and the West Indies to win by 269 Runs.

Stuart Broad who wasn't deemed good enough to play the first test takes 10 wickets, scores 60 and reaches 500 test wickets in the match.

I think he's made a point.

Geoffrey (Geoff) Greenidge (opening bat) was the last white cricketer to play for the Windies and this was in the early/mid 70's. If I remember correctly he opened with (now Sir) Gordon Greenidge in a few tests. He was Barbadian and also played for Sussex. I remember seeing him playing for Sussex against Essex at Ilford sometime in the 70's.
Brendan Nash is mixed race, he has one Jamaican parent (I forget which one) so is not considered by cricket aficionados to be the last white cricketer to play for the Windies.

Sorry, I thought he'd played the game before doing the commentating but was always a journalist.

When I lived in Dalston many years ago, they renamed the library to the CLR James library. When I saw it, I thought that was one hell of an arrogant council member

Would have helped if they had called it C.L.R James as they have done with the rebuilt library.
