Didn’t say anything was ok. Was just interested in some of the examples Sid finds offensive or derogatory. I’m sure he wouldn’t have picked a topic he knows nothing about, that has a completely different context to what the threads about, in order to undermine the importance of racism.

I have to say, I find it intriguing that so many people get animated at minor infractions and offences to fairness, such as black people being allowed to use the "n word" when they cannot, or cyclists jumping red lights when they cannot - when they seem so indifferent to injustices that are a several orders of magnitude larger, such as wealth/educational inequalities, the disproportionate criminalisation of black people (even while other ethnicities are at least as likely to be offenders), the fact that driving a ton lump of metal at 30mph presents multiples of the risk to other road users as a 10kg bike travelling at half the speed...

(I'm taking the liberty to conflate these two issues, as I'm confident that in the Venn diagram of life, these two groups have a big overlap)

Thing is a lot of people see things simply; if something is wrong then it is wrong for all.

Much like with the handball law where if the ball hits a forwards arm the goal is disallowed but if it hits a defender then no penalty unless deemed deliberate.

As for the 10kg bike. I wouldn't fancy being hit by one jumping a red light while i am crossing the road and having known a couple of people it has happened to in the City it is no laughing matter.
