Sure I would.

Noted that any appointments going forward I'll hold my opinions on an orient message board. Wouldn't want too much discussion eh?
Sometimes though maybe there almost IS too much discussion. I don't remember Paul Clark coming in during the 90's and people thinking 'cor, not for me' for example. Sometimes unless we sign obviously great signings it'll automatically be negative rather than neutral fairly often. If we signed a 19 year old released by Brentford as a centre midfielder tomorrow people would go nutty, but they might actually be perfect for us. It's almost like in the age of hyper-information it always airs on the side of negative.

Except about the Tories, obviously. Bastards.
Yeah, i know what you mean. i'm not angry at the appointment in a vacuum. I'm sure he is great (not that i trust ling would know that) and deserves the chance. and i genuinely wish him well, of course. But in our situation it doesn't feel like the right appointment based on the complete lack of experience elsewhere on the coaching team.

Not a lot of experience but fits the BAME requirements.........
What BAME requirements are you referring to?

You are welcome to give us your opinion and I am free to challenge it.

You just appear so sad. Who hurt you?
it's sad seeing some pretty bizarre decisions being made at my club. Let's let them get on with it though, dont want to hold them to account too much. it's only our club, after all.
I dont see it as bizarre . The FB era was bizarre, this isnt.

He's got all those years of playing experience too, with some great managers.

Fair enough. Time will tell.

Just feels like its not Rocket science that you have an inexperienced manager and an inexperienced coaching staff, if you really want to spend budget on another coach, that they’d be a bit older and be able to offer advice and guidance.

I just hope this isn’t at the expense of some much needed squad depth. He could be Pep and we we’d still be Bottom half next year

I’m sure Ross doesn’t want an experienced guy, ready to step in should Ross fail. Or worse still, have ideas far more creative than Ross who won’t want to look bad with the squad.

We have an assistant with less experience that Ross, who don’t have much himself.

Good luck Danny. Ross will teach you everything he knows. Well that the first tea break sorted.

What we need is to be seen to be a progressive club
who show we have equal opportunities.

With.the owners/chairmen looking for more & more
Sponsorship deals & investment it shows good sense
to have a diverse employment throughout the club.

Plenty of major buisnesses want to attach themselves in any way
they can to sponsorship advertising as they can.
If we can get two 6 figure deals into the club by this it will pay for itself.

Build sound footings then the house is strong forever.

Dont build them & you are likely to collapse quickly.
I look forward to seeing proven quality signings before the season starts for our new assistant coach to coach.

A good coach moulds the players he already has .

Did Justin Edinburgh not teach you that ?

Last season was traumatic due to him passing .
Lets judge during & after this coming season eh .

Probably 90% of being a successful coach or manager comes down to man management. If he succeeds with this then you should see it in performances. I dont care if he's black, white, yellow or whatever.

For someone that likes to be balanced this is all very wonky and and a little unfair projection.

For those of you that have suggested or have thought about suggesting we've appointed Danny to fit the current bame criteria need to go and wobble your heads somewhat.
You give your head a wobble.

After all of the attention over the last couple of months on the lack of black coaches the appointment of a black coach so soon after is going to attract questions over whether he was chosen on ability or colour.

These issues cut either way.

Experienced coaches? Huh?

What we want is coaches trained and qualified in modern coaching methods and playing styles. I'm sure that Danny ticks that box better than a 50 something with 20 years behind him. I don't reckon his race or colour came into it for one second. He got it on ability. If we got someone experienced you lot would only moan that he'd spent 20 years as a coach, achieved very little and clearly didn't have it in him to challenge the manager for his job.

I will judge by our position in the league table at the end of the season, if we are very close to the pay offs, in the play offs or are promoted it will be the proof of the pudding.

To me, this sends the message that Jobi is determined to be on the pitch more than coaching. Perhaps that’s what the delay about him signing was - he was offered the assistant head coach but turned it down because he wants to continue playing?

* Places populist hat on *

Seems the same people that oppose the Rooney rule in football because it will lead to accusations "they only got the job because they're black" will make the same accusation when black people get the job on merit

Maybe they just don't want black people in managerial positions? 🤷🏻‍♂️

the best leaders, like Justin, have leadership qualities born in them. They just need to learn a few techniques on how best to use that ability.

You can learn how to be a boss. You can’t learn how to be a leader.

But comments are based on what’s actually happened, not some made up scenario where you’ve also made up the answers. If we got someone experienced in I would say it’s a good appointment if the person was good enough.
