Re: Macdonalds.
Sounds like my local garden centre/nursery when it opened again. They had to have two blokes in hi-vis in the car park, directing the old codgers.
You'd think old folk who are most at risk would be abiding by social distancing, but they were hopeless. I turned tail and legged it.

Re: Macdonalds.
Obesity upsets me, says me half a stone overweight and can’t shift it despite exercising every day. But for some it’s a thing that is difficult to manage for a variety of reasons, and it gets harder as you get older.Beradogs wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 12:34 pm The links between obesity and deaths from Covid-19, never mind a myriad of other diseases, are becoming more apparent by the day but these twats cannot wait to drive to their nearest McDonald’s, sit in their cars for 2 hours and then stuff their faces with high cholesterol fatty sh1t. It’s unbelievable really.I read somewhere that the U.K. is the most if not one of the most obese nations in the western world, we should be f ing ashamed of ourselves.
But in young people it is a shame, heading for problems. Really don’t like seeing it and in the very young I wonder why parents allow it.
But I don’t hold with the criticism of McDonalds and the like. Every now and then is OK. Tbh if you are in lockdown, sitting in a car for two hours gives a change of scenery to sitting at home all day. But I wouldn’t do it though. I would be embarrassed.

I think it was to do with maintaining safe distancing for employees in the kitchens. That's probably why they have opened with a limited menu.

My thoughts exactly !NuneatonO's wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 5:17 pm Unfortunately, it's today's brainwashed, automaton, mentality.
No spare time whatsoever to prepare decent food and cook at home (probably can just about manage to understand how to put a microwave on) - but time to sit in a queue for hours, contributing towards road/travel chaos; whilst adding selfies to Facebook.
Then off home to take a few new pouting selfies for Instagram; or make some ridiculously unfunny TikTok video clip.
Then watch utter cr@p such as Ant&Dec, GoggleBox, or some similar Z-list 'Celeb' reality show sh!te.
FFS..........take me back to the 70's or early 80's.

You have to be joking ? I do not mind the occasional Big Mac but not to the extent of queuing up in a car for a long time to get one !
A money saving tip here, do not throw away your McDonalds reciept, take it home with you. go online to google search and put in ''mcdonalds survey uk'' and plenty of options there to to a short online survey eg nothing intrusive, things like was the food good , were the french fries hot etc. Complete the short survey and then you get a code, write it on your reciept and if you go to a McDonalds again ( dont know if it will work in this current takeaway only time, just ask ) anyway, you get one big mac and french fries for just £1.99 ! You can also ask for chicken burger and fries, quarter pounder and fries and most restaurants will also let you have them for £1.99. One receipt with survey filled in gives you one burger and fries for the reduced price !I keep 3 or 4 in the car, mainly for my lady friend, she sometimes fancy's the chicken burger and fries ! https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/shopping ... g-13084486

Honestly, McDonalds food makes me feel unwell so I won't be troubling the queue.
On a vaguely related note, I did start watching McMillions on Netfix yesterday about the McDonalds Monopoly game fraud - very interesting so far.

Re: Macdonalds.
I think I would rather McDonalds than what the latest government dishonesty on chlorinated chickens is going to do for us:
10 January 2020
Environment secretary Theresa Villiers was clear: "We will not be importing chlorinated-chicken. We will not be importing hormone-treated beef," she told the BBC's Countryfile programme. This was effectively reiterating a longstanding policy, assumed to have been in place since 2017 when Michael Gove said the UK would not lower its food standards.
30 January 2020
Less than three weeks later, something changed. US secretary of state Mike Pompeo was interviewed by LBC radio and made clear that if the UK wanted a trade deal, it would need to open its food cupboards to US producers. "Our ask will be as it has been in the other negotiations," he said. He suggested British farmers were scared of competing with the products, adding "We need to be open and honest about competitiveness. We need to make sure we don't use food safety as a ruse to try and protect a particular industry."
23 February 2020
What happened next suggests the message was heard loud and clear in London. Asked about the pledge to keep the food standards less than a month after Pompeo's intervention, the new environment secretary George Eustice refused to guarantee the ban - stating only that the government had "no plans" to change the law.
5 May 2020
This is when trade talks with the US formally opened. On this day Chuck Grassley, the Republican senator from the farming state of Iowa who chairs the US senate - which has sweeping powers on trade - elaborated further. Getting banned US food on British plates wasn't just part of the deal... as far as he was concerned, it was the deal. "All I'm hoping to do is if we get a good deal with the UK on agriculture, it's going to embarrass Europe," Mr Grassley said.
4 June 2020
With trade talks running for less than month, Downing Street appears to have folded - or at least put the issue of American food on the table. An article in the Daily Telegraph quoted a government source spelling out the UK plan, which Boris Johnson's spokesperson wouldn't deny when questioned later during a briefing of journalists. He also refused to repeat the pledge on chlorinated chicken, which is now apparently history.
Is there anything which is not sacred for these scumbags?

Re: Macdonalds.
What will be interesting to see is whether McDonalds themselves guarantee not to use US chicken.
And if they don't, if that makes any difference at all to the people queuing up to get their nuggets.

Re: Macdonalds.
Indicative of the time that "people buying some food", is now a news-piece, and plenty queuing up on here to sneer up them because they pursue what they believe is a superior lifestyle.
Whilst I will very occasionally buy their stuff if there's nothing else, (service stations at 1 in the morning) I'm not gonna queue up for it during a pandemic, but if people want to invest their time and money in doing that, that's entirely their call; albeit it seems to send keyboard warriors into meltdown.

Unfortunately, people are uneducated about food and people are poor.
Some may not have a choice about what chicken they buy or know the health implications.
Sad all round really. But it’s obviously only an issue because British farmers can’t meet demand, hence why we needed the EU but let’s not offend the brexiters

Very good point. They were quickly to proudly state that none of their beef was British during the mad-cow crisis.

Part of BBC news article below. So in a nutshell, the action of washing Chicken in a chlorine rinse does not appear to be the main concern to health, the worry is quoteDisoriented wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 9:26 amVery good point. ''But the EU believes that relying on a chlorine rinse at the end of the meat production process could be a way of compensating for poor hygiene standards - such as dirty or crowded abattoirs.''
Why ban chlorine-washed chicken?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-47440562
Washing chicken in chlorine and other disinfectants to remove harmful bacteria was a practice banned by the European Union (EU) in 1997 over food safety concerns. The ban has stopped virtually all imports of US chicken meat which is generally treated by this process.
It's not consuming chlorine itself that the EU is worried about - in fact in 2005 the European Food Safety Authority said that "exposure to chlorite residues arising from treated poultry carcasses would be of no safety concern". Chlorine-rinsed bagged salads are common in the UK and other countries in the EU.

You can buy rice, pasta and fresh veg - and if you aren't a veggi, mincemeat, for not very much money at all. You can make a few meals out of it.
This is a point often made by my Missis to her young Sister (who has four kids, including twins - so at least we know two of them had the same Father). She's forever pleading abject poverty and on the ponce; but thinks nothing of taking them to McDonalds or KFC ; or ordering take-away food deliveries to their house. On the odd occasion when she can drag herself away from Facebook and does bother to turn the oven on, it's to chuck in a tray of chicken nuggets and fries; or some other processed filth.
Look each to their own - I just get annoyed when I hear utter BS such as "I haven't got time to cook". Then, when I see three of my young Nieces overweight, I know it just isn't being fair on them. They'll potentially suffer because of her 'can't be arsed' attitude.
From what I hear, many parents are the same. Look no further than (as mentioned above by someone) the amount of fat kids waddling about these days. No wonder we are the most obese country in Western Europe.

Rant over.

Agree with everything you say but it’s education. Don’t know what the solution is but I know so many who don’t know the first thing about what’s good for them and what isn’t. When you have kids involved it verges in child abuse imo considering how easy it is these days to educate yourself about what you feed your childNuneatonO's wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 10:11 amNot sure how much McDonalds costs - but I don't think it's cheap crap, is it?Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 9:20 amUnfortunately, people are uneducated about food and people are poor.

Re: Macdonalds.
I hope so. Brexit was a huge mistake in my view but it’s happened and if we are going to get any positive results from it then people in this country have to work hard to do so. We also need governments to invest in agriculture, fishing, etc... and give tax relief rather than paying the yanks to give us chemical chickens.Dohnut wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 10:30 amHell, chicken off the menu after Brexit.
