Sometimes in life you’ve just got to suck it up and realise that you have to take a loss due to circumstances which is not really anybodies fault.

As you say, if they had to pay everyone back it would cripple the club.

Personally I see it as a donation to keep the club doing during an extremely difficult time.
Not sure they shouldn't be welcome at Orient ever again, but only because we need all the support we can get; and as ST holders they are supporters, but agree completely with the overall sentiments.

Some people are incredibly tight-fisted, but you'd have to say they have a "right" to claim the money back, were it offered.

I don't think the club should offer it though. They should sit tight, and then see if any dweebs pop up on social media mewling about their refunds.

Of course I don't want any money back. I'd have been more likely to want a refund if I'd had to sit through 360 more minutes of witless Embletonian dross, so the cancellation of those matches is a bit of a relief tbh

£50?,offer a free home shirt for next season, collection only at first home game. Would save on admin having to return the monies.

Stop going on about multi millionaire investors. If you are referring to Nigel and Kent then you are totally wrong and behaving like some spoilt brat. Get a life, grow up

OK Not as clear as I intended. Am sure that Nigel and Kent are millionaires but they have done more than their fair share. They saved the club they brought in a first class CEO in Danny and what a deal Nigel initiated with Kane.
Moaners on here about Nigel and Kent’s wealth should just remember that without their wealth there would also be no LOFC.

The following is just an outline idea but I thought I'd put it out there and see what other ideas exist. To give you an idea, I think these 4 games were worth about £175-200k of season ticket revenue....

How about the club issuing vouchers to season ticket holders to be spent at the club over the next season (or 2). They cannot be redeemed against the cost of a season ticket (because the club would lose too much income?) but they could be used to purchase individual tickets for future games - so when we bring friends we have a way of it not costing. If set up correctly they could be used in the club shop to buy shirts (say a voucher could be no more than 50% of the bill - so the club gets 50% income on the purchase). The only alternative - apart from cash refunds that would cripple the club - is to issue tickets for the first (or last) 4 games of next season which would harm season ticket sales.

Anyone got any ideas of their own, or thoughts to add?
Give 4 extra tickets to bring friends. The only problem affects the fans who don’t want to redeem their season tickets .For those fans they should also be given 4free tickets.

I think the initial instigator regarding Kane was Danny Maklin.

I think the club could take the approach to refunds that train companies do.

When you cash in an annual rail season ticket, you don't get the pro-rate remaining amount back because you have already benefited from the discount. They calculate the current weekly ticket price cost of the part you have used, and subtract that from the cost of the season ticket.

I suspect if the club calculated the matchday cost of the tickets for games that have been played it probably comes to more than a season ticket (I haven't worked it out, mind). On that basis, you could argue that no refund is due.

Not really the same though, is it?

The entire season wasn’t cancelled.

If we’re going to use your analogy it’s a bit like pre-paying for a two-week holiday and going on it but due to a natural disaster you had to come home 2 days early.

Most would suck it up and take the hit of missing out on the two days due to unforeseen circumstances, that’s life.

Of course you could demand the holiday company refund you and risk putting them out of business (as international flights are suspended due to the natural disaster) thus no more holiday deals next summer because the company are bust.

Amazing how Orient fans can have an argument about something that hasn't yet happened, based purely in their own narrow-minded world vision.

Haven't even thought about it until this thread came up.
Not worried about getting a refund, not the clubs fault and that's the end of it.

Orient fans debating a topic about Orient on an Orient message board.

Astonishing, isn’t it?

I have 3 football matches (one for a group of 10), a rugby match, a west end show, half a dozen gigs and a festival. I'm not really prepared to suck all of that up as I would be over a grand out of pocket as for most of them I have bought tickets for others as well. Regarding Orient, I was only paying on the gate, so not impacted by that.

Don’t want a refund. The club can keep the ticket money. I have saved over £150 costs from travel and prematch beer missing homes games circa £100 for the away-day games planned. So I am £250 better off I reckon.

I’ve saved, let the club get a little benefit too.

And as Ryanair just reminded me a couple of flights. The outbound to Shannon is cancelled so I get a refund. The return form Cork isn't...

If you went on a 2 week holiday and had to come home two days early, you would receive some compensation or reimbursement, absolutely guaranteed. It’s bonkers to suggest you wouldn’t.

Yeah, that would work. Reimbursing the fans for what they’ve ‘lost’ and not hitting cash flow now. I’d expect the club to come up with something like that.

Expect free O-Nuts as a one-off compensation gesture for the first game back. They will run out by 2.45pm though (Winchester please be considerate).

That's an interesting point. Because the season ticket offers a discount for bulk buying, the club could use this fact to mitigate anything they might have to pay out in cold hard cash.

Read a few things on here about it only being £50 - as if £50 is something that is easily cast away by everyone. I see plenty of evidence in the SS that people work hard to afford going to the O's; that this is their highlight in their month or what they prioritise when spending what available funds they have. I'm happy to donate my £50 to the club, but those who say that anyone who wants their money back is not a true fan of the club are way off the mark. We all have different financial needs - and those have changed in the past 2 months for many.

What I do know is that the board seem to be quite inventive as well as trying to be considerate when it comes to these things - so when they do have to come up with something I reckon it will satisfy most people. Can you ever imagine any of the previous 2 owners coming up with anything better than the present regime??

Wonder if there is anything buried in the conditions of sale.

Annual rail tickets or Travelcards work on the basis of you getting the last two months of travel for free for example, so if you want to cancel after 10 or 11 months there is no refund. Though that's obviously very different to a football season ticket and the fact these are extreme circumstances (as well as needing to keep season ticket holders sweet)

You want to be careful or you might be seeing a bill for 250 quid from Leyton Orient if this carries on much longer.
