The Thomas The Tank engine answer was obviously a joke.
Admittedly the Germany border answers were pretty silly.
There’s nothing worse than doing quizzes with bores who give it “how could you be so stupid” act whenever somebody gets something wrong. Some people just aren’t that good when put on the spot. Overall it says more about your own insecurities than anybody else’s faculties that you use a quiz, which is supposed to be fun, to chastise other people’s intelligence.
2 trust me the tank engine was not a joke, an answer she nearly gave was the C2C line, she had never heard of The Orient Express or Orient Line for that matter

Good subject to chat and explore over a pint, but on here we would miss certain signs given out by each other which would lead into unnecessary turmoil.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 4:08 pmWhat if I was to suggest to you that there is no such thing as an "open mind".point nine one eight wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 3:10 pm I believe it is acquired over time along with having a mind that is open and eager to pickup knowledge, closed minds will not learn, you can see those people and recognize them in normal conversation.
I picked up my open mind as a kid, my father coming home from work with 3 daily papers, The Evening News, Daily Mail, and the old Daily Sketch, used to read cover to cover.
Then went to work at Times Newspaper doing same also The Guardian printed in same building, nipping over to Express building and Telegraph. Learnt so much gave me an insatiable thirst for knowledge. most of it useless but never mind.

Plus she didn't know chickens could fly, actually she is a laugh a minute, has a lovely smile that lights up her face, BUT you just don't know what pearls of wisdom is going to come out next or not in her case. like she didn't know that bacon, gammon and pork are all a pigHuxley wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 4:46 pmI take it back, she’s an idiot.point nine one eight wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 10:43 am1 it shows that as youngsters they ain't keeping up in the worldHuxley wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 9:38 am Not sure how knowledge of country and western singers equates to intelligence. Can't agree. Why are 20 somethings or less on the real University Challenge so good across a wide range of obscure subjects.

Re: university challenged ?
Talking of university challenge. Embarrassingly watched pretty much all of the last series and set a PB 8 correct answers in one of the semi finals. Me and the missus average about 3-4 most weeks though. Some of the contestants are freaks of nature but impressive, nonetheless.
