Looking forward to the time where people allow me and others to hold the government to account. My guess would be that when this is over the next excuse will be 'it's in the past, we dealt with it, good or bad, lets move on'. sigh.

Anyway, I hope Boris makes a full recovery and his missus and unborn child. It must be a terrifying time for all of them.

The unborn child, especially. Imagine coming into this world and finding out that's your dad.

Its because of people like your wife is why the nhs is held in such high esteem by the people. I'm sure you do it, just remind her that we are grateful for what she does and is doing.

Not high enough esteem by you and your mate who are looking to make a few quid out of them though.

No its not. It fails to recognise that the dithering and incorrect strategy cost lives. Let's hope he doesn't pay the ultimate price for his own bravado and incompetence.

Are you saying that a labour government would have been more efficient given the time scale and the way the virus spread I don`t really think whomever was in power would have fared much better.

To allow Cheltenham to go ahead was clearly wrong even without the benefit of hindsight. At the same time the tennis was pulled in California - clearly a different and more prudent strategy there. We were most definitely at least a week behind where we should have been.

Just waiting on the wife to return from work after her first day back at the hospital following self isolation. No test in sight!!!

A Week? Try a month.

It's not like it should have been a big surprise.

Not too sure about a month - but wouldn't defend the Government on that point. North Italy was recognised as a huge problem on 20/22 Feb.

There's plenty of things the government could have done differently, but I reckon the timing of the lockdown such as it is was about right. Too soon and people would have been complaining that it was all for nothing.

Whatever the Government did, some will accuse them of incompetence. As for strategy, different ideas exist around the globe from Sweden, Australia and the UK and so on Opinions still do differ. A completely new situation with information daily, some of which is now considered wrong, etc, etc, etc. Who really knows the best solution, lockdown itself will cause problems to.

There will be plenty of time for the Government and Opposition to argue the rights and wrongs in due course.

Strong feeling of deja vu here. You keep regurgitating this piffle on a regular basis. The government have screwed up showing incredible incompetence and a complete disregard for human life. Now is exactly the time to make your voice heard in order to attempt to avoid their next monumental feck up. Yes there will be debate later but they need to be held to account now.

Johnson transferred into intensive Care. That’s about a 50:50 chance of croaking it, then. Best wishes to him in getting through this.

Tell that to the thousands of people who contracted the virus in the week before lockdown and are now dead.

Moving him to an I.C. Ward will be a precaution; enabling closer, more regular, personal monitoring by an assigned Nurse; and urgent access to respitatory equipment, if required (let's hope not).

Despite my dislike of his political party, I truly wish him well and hope that he makes a full recovery.

I’ve been clear. Governments need to be held to account. It is also pretty obvious that the UK along with the rest of the world are struggling and tbh the approaches of different countries vary considerably. Who knows who is right or wrong. You? Me? What makes you the expert? Able to make such proclamations. The answer is absolutely nothing at all. Nothing. I will say it again, you know nothing about the realities of the situation and are in no position to gob off.

For 3 weeks I had the opportunity to listen to the daily bulletins in Australia and the debates on what was right or wrong raged on. Boris was seen frequently on Perth TV as his approach discussed as one way forward. Sweden have taken a different approach, France changed tack. But hey, you know better don’t you.

There will be a time and place when experts can look and learn, not just in the UK but globally. In the meantime the Government with the help of the opposition continue to do what they can.

You're right of course, I'm no expert, and I've never said I am. However, I'm quite capable of reading the reports and articles covering this crisis and my view that the government has screwed up big time is hardly unique. Even the Tory rags have come around to that way of thinking. As for you having "the opportunity to listen to the daily bulletins in Australia", well so what? Does that make you any wiser than anyone else (the answer is no by the way). But you carry on being an apologist for this despicable government. It's what you do after all.....

Still think this is funny or clever? You should hang your head in shame. Depending on WHICH expert you listen to you’ll get totally different opinions. Boris took advice and acted on that . Only when it’s all over will we know who may have been right or just more right than wrong! I just hope he makes a quick and speedy recovery,

Still?

I didn't think it was funny when I wrote it.

Do you consider the lack of life-saving equipment 'funny'?

I find the Tory-handling of this entire situation anything but funny.

I find it an abysmal failure of a Tory Government.

I find the lack of equipment, PPE and testing for NHS staff anything but funny.

I find the severe lack of ventilators, anything but funny.

I find the thousands of vacant nursing positions as anything but funny.

I consider the reduction of hospital beds, particularly within Intensive Care, anything but funny.

Remember, Mr. Johnson voted, along with the Tory Party, for these cuts. 'Austerity' I believe they called it? Go and check out his voting record.

I also find Tory Sychophants, brainwashed into believing that they've handled this crisis well, as truly and utterly blinkered.

By the way, what's the difference between a 'quick' and 'speedy' recovery? Aren't they the same thing?

Anyway, I blame Diane Abbott and Jeremy Corbyn for all this, don't you? :clown

Wasn't some of that advice something about not shaking hands? Boris ignored it.

It is therefore a lie for you to state, as some sort of fact, that he took advice and acted on it.
