Only the most capable of people become doctors. Its a little elitist as a result. The education level required is very high and the powers of endurance are significant. To get more working class people educated as doctors you will need to deal with the education system first, if you think the system has a bias. That's a different issue entirely.

I’m not sure it’s elitist as such although I get what you’re saying. I think for most studying for say 9 years is a long time, costs lots of money and the person carry’s a lot of debt. Most people would think sod that I’ll do something easier. The second issue is you need to be clever and the reality is most people do not have the capability to get to that level.

I was once told doctors are failed vets and it’s vets that are the real clever ones. Make of that what you may.
