There’s an argument for Brophy to play on the wing in a 4-4-2 but don’t think he’s cut out for one of the forward roles in a 4-3-3.

I really like him at LB with the licence to get on as much as possible. His defensive work is improving week on week, I£ be inclined to keep him there. We may need Joe at CB anyway if Happe and Marvin both go, anyway.

Johnson is looking like the man we've been missing in the box for the rebounds etc. Thought he did well yesterday, I am warming to him.

Similar to Clay with Wright out the side Johnson benefited from Wilkinson being out, freeing up the right side for JMD and the middle spot for him. Neither of the two absentees should return next game, don't change a winning side that looked well balanced yesterday

It was similar to the game at the Abbey Stadium in many respects, albeit not as niggly. Cambridge looked poor, we got ahead and had clear water but then made heavy weather of winning, in a game where we should have been out of sight. But for a good save by Vigouroux in injury time they could have nicked a point.

Was impressed by Brophy, Cisse looked solid, and Johnson did a lot of running up front – more effective than Angol who should be the better player. A decent game to watch, and my first sight of the team (and new arrivals) in the flesh since the Abbey Stadium match. Seven unbeaten at home apparently, it doesn’t feel that good, but can’t argue with the stats.

Angol is doing what he does at every club he’s ever been at. There’s talent there, but he can’t be bothered to use it. His attitude and application are both appalling. Looking forward to binning him off in the summer. Johnson is a f**king dreadful footballer, but I’d take his work rate over Angol’s laconic fecklessness every time.

cisse is a definite improvement but I wish he would toughen up, many times he was outmuscled in the tackle and doesn’t use his physique to his advantage when jumping with an opponent.

As others have said, I don't think its a coincidence that Wright hasn't been playing so much.
Is it more that with Cisse shoring things up in front of the defence, Clay has been given more freedom to play further forward?

Potentially, but there have still been games where Wright amd Clay have played with Cisse and to me Wright slows down our play.

George wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 9:39 pm It was noticeable when Angol came on how difficult it was to get out of our half. He can’t hold the ball up so the midfield can’t get forward. The midfield will never take a risk and support the forwards if they feel the ball will come straight back leaving them vulnerable. The difference was obvious when Angol came on. He is another awful forward who waits for the ball , doesn’t anticipate , doesn’t work for the team , and when the ball arrives at his feet , can’t control it. Utterly pointless player.
I dont like criticizing players but the jury is obviously out on Angol. Is he being played out of position, does he need to be playing alongside a Harrold-type player, is this the right league for him or is he just not good enough? There are quite a few 'lousy' forwards who have left the O's and had very successful goal scoring careers elsewhere.

Dont disagree with that. In fact, I prefer Dayton to Wright in that position. At least he looks to go forward.

Me too - it always looks like Dayton is itching for a bit of agro though - it's something he needs to address I think.

Agree that Cambridge were poor and for an hour we ran rings around them. Also agree that Clay is starting (late in the season) to look like the player he was last season. Brophy was my MoM, solid tackling at the back and used his pace well to cover for Happe, set up the second and even when he played further forward for the last half hour provided cover for Widdowson. Think Marsh had a very average game and was lucky to be on the field at the end, bad timing now Ling is fit. Nothing really worked for Sotiriou and Johnson looks nothing out of the ordinary.

He looked like a world beater compared to Angol yesterday. I don't think he won a challenge nor did he complete a pass. Very static compared to Johnson. Won't be getting a start next week.

Cissé 8 MOTM - An implacable thou-shalt-not-pass performance. Doesn’t give the ball away either.
I might be wrong but he got owned for the knock down leading to their goal. Thought he had a game of 2 halves tbh. The first was a good one and the second was average at best.

Cisse needs to toughen up, be stronger in the tackle and especially when jumping with an opponent as for someone of his size he gets outmuscled far too easily.

How did Clay get away with that elbow on the guy running alongside him?

It was a hand off not an elbow ;)

It was a hand in the face, but agreed, we got very lucky with that first goal

Anglo seems to be a baller, but not a goal scorer - give him a run out in midfield? He may be more effective than Wright the water-carrier.

You do see people get away with it when the defender has a hold off an attackers shirt or arm and they push them off. But there was no contact from the Cambridge fella.

We got lucky.
