No issue with the singing.

But if they were repeatedly swearing in a public place - not the ground, where you know to expect it, but on a train - then that is anti social behaviour.
Agreed. But considering the situation (away win, and boozy weekend before Christmas) it’s understandable that some lads get carried away.

that’s why I asked if anyone asked them to go easy. Their reaction to this request is how they should be judged.

It’s one thing to ask the lads to keep it down and they continue. This does make them anti-social idiots.

It’s another thing not to say anything at the time then come on the Internet later and call them “tools”. They may have been perfectly reasonable if you spoke to them.
Unfortunately these days even asking people politely to do something can result in a punch in the mouth or even worse , I'm 67 now and too old to get involved in shenanigans like that , and yes maybe I was a bit harsh calling them tool's and for that I apologise.
Tools?
Don’t worry BR it was only the biggest Spanner on the board that took offence anyway😉

That’s fair enough. Big of you to apologise on here too.

I hope it didn’t spoil the day for you

Back in the bad old days I travelled to away games on “Football Specials” and swearing and singing was fairly common, as was vandalising the trains themselves. As Ron says though nowadays asking them to tone it down might result in a punch or worse.
I would think that behaviour in general has improved a bit from those bad old days, probably as a result of better security and police presence etc

Are you sure it wasn't the group of Bishop's Stortford rugby fans?
