Re: Ratings thread
Not going to give anyone a rating after all the toys thrown out of the pram last time.
Thought every player put in a shift and am not going to mark anyone down.

Re: Ratings thread
Sarge 7 - Did what he had to well
Judd 6 - Like a kid who has had too many lucozades, tons of enthusiam and energy, he done what he needed to do today but think a cleverer winger would cause him issues
Turley 7 - Captains performance, organising the back line, taking no prisoners
Epekita 7 - Played well with Turley, helped Bradford didn't have a massive lump up top
Happe 7 - Played well, can tell at times he isn't a left back but did a good job there today
Wright, Marsh, Clay - 6 - Meh, not great, not bad
JMD 7 - Put plenty of crosses in, someone had to get on the end of one of them, has to play, puts good quality in
Angol 6 - Worked hard all game and caused issues, maybe should've got on the end of something though
Wilkinson 6- Same as above, has some lovely foot work at times
I think it's crying out for a two up top of Wilkinson and Angol to be tried, just to see if it works

Re: Ratings thread
I enjoyed this game . .. probably says more about how bad things have been. Surely Judd needs lore time?

Re: Ratings thread
I think you should mark hin for todays performance, not some potential issue that may not occur. Deserves a 7, like the rest of the defence.essexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 9:24 pm Sarge 7 - Did what he had to well

Re: Ratings thread
Powder puff forwards, lacking in confidence. If they could get a couple of goals each, things could take off.
Glad to see a clean sheet.

Re: Ratings thread
Absolute nonsense.
Angol is ridiculously strong for his size. And both had good games yesterday.

Agree, Angol won a lot of battles despite being fed scraps to work with. Both strikers are hampered by the formation as it stands, that can only change if we solve the CM conundrum in the January transfer window.

Re: Ratings thread
Their link up when they do get closer together is incredible, especially given the limited time they’ve had so far.
Midfielder is our number 1 priority this window, ahead of a keeper.

Re: Ratings thread
Thought whole defence deserved 7.5 - surprised that Bradford didn’t put us under more pressure. Midfield need to move the ball quicker to the front 2....need a bit more dynamism in central MF.... decent point and deserved.

Re: Ratings thread
I thought after 15 minutes we might get rolled over but to be fair we "manned up" pretty much all over the park. One of the few times this season where we have turned up for the whole game. For a 0-0 with very few chances, it was actually a good watch. Any one of 4 or 5 could have been MOTM.
More of the same at Cambridge please.

Re: Ratings thread
I agree that Turley looked a lot better than Coulson, but am surprised that he was beaten so easily in the second half, when despite fouling their bloke he was still beaten and they should have scored. I'm not sure of the ref played advantage, but if not it was definitely a penalty. Had that been given and they had won, it would have been Turley's fault. Therefore, how can he have been MoM?

Re: Ratings thread
Good point. If someone made 1 mistake in 90 minutes which actually resulted in in nothing happening, they can't be the MOTM.
(Not even sure what mistake you're talking about, to be honest).

Actually looks like the team/squad might be coming together.

In the first half, when Sarge stood tall and made a good block?

Re: Ratings thread
Ok, you said second half which confused me, I now know the incident to which you refer.
Unfortunately, if you leave a defender 1 v 1, on occasion he will be beaten. It is not realistic to expect a defender to win every challenge with a forward. The problem with that incident was Judd had pushed on but none of the 3 in midfield had properly covered for him. They won the ball back and played it into the gap he'd left.
Clay is the one who should be criticised for that, he's the nearest and should have covered that hole. Not only that, he doesn't bother to properly get back to support Turley either once the ball has been played, aimlessly jogging back. Both Wright and Judd are some 30 yards ahead of him but they get back quicker than he does. Look at the highlights again, it's on there in the first few seconds.

Re: Ratings thread
Quite right to say, of course, that all defenders will get caught out from time to time by pace. But it's funny that I've only just recently pointed this out about Turley. I realise that he is flavour of the month on here at the moment and on Saturday, yes, he had a fairly good game. But I personally, would still feel safer with him at right back.

He is as quick as anyone, he got done as he allowed his man to the wrong side of him. That's all. He does not lack pace.

Re: Ratings thread
He wasn't done for pace. He was done for diving in to try and steal the ball, which with hindsight he shouldn't have done as he was exposed 1v1. Nothing to do with pace. He's our quickest defender.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 4:11 pm Quite right to say, of course, that all defenders will get caught out from time to time by pace. Re: Ratings thread
That's all? Ok, I'll have a closer watch on him next home game. If not his pace then it must be bad positioning, which if it is would make it appear that he's a bit slow off the mark.
