I do feel the fans are being strung along by the owners; we are being teased. The Club has media liaison officers; where is the liaison with fans? I am fed up of trying to discover whether the appointment has been confirmed. I do not want whispers from Press outlets or cryptic tweets.

Never seen so many stupid comments on a message board in my life. Judging a man before his even been appointed. Saying we need an experienced manager? Wasn't Steve Davies "experienced". Any manager with a good win ratio and a experienced cv will not be looking to manage a league 2 club.
I trust Kent and Nigel's judgment much more than I do a key board warrior with no job. up the os
Welcome to the message board Carl.

It's a gamble, make no doubt about that. Could go either way and be inspired or disastrous but have no idea on which direction this appointment will take.
I'm hoping T&T have seen something in him, a spark of the right man at the right time to move forward with and rebuild. Hindsight will be wonderful whichever side of the fence looks back at these posts in a year or two.

I hope they back Carl in January if he wants to strengthen our squad. IMO, I think he will want to strengthen it. If he can sign one or two good loanees, that will do.

Needs more than that, not only to fix the gaps in the squad as it stands but to set up for summer when a big chunk of the squad are out of contract. Bed a fair few in now and it won't need to be wholesale change for next season.
- GK (proper competition for Brill)
- CB (still reckon Ekpiteta will be off in January if he gets an offer)
- LB (cover & competition for Widdowson, someone who can fill in at CB would be ideal)
- CM (get this position sorted at long last with the quality ball winning midfielder we've been crying out for)
- ST (replacement for Alabi)

I believe the threads deleted were the pure poison posted by AylesburyO. I agree with the Mods decision on that one and I think they are a great bunch of guys except the new one.

Ling said that many would be pleased with this appointment. Who was he referring to? I am so underwhelmed by this appointment. Managed Plymouth 5 years ago and helped them avoid relegation, then moved to being the loan player manager for Bournemouth. What did he bring to the table the other applicants didn’t? Seriously what did he say? Who also applied? How much did we pay Bournemouth? Strikes me as the cheapest option again.

Ling also said that if Walsall wouldn’t of given Dean Smith a chance then he wouldn’t be where he is today. Why don’t you give the man a chance and be positive. Surley you want him to succeed ?

And for every Dean Smith there’s is hundreds of Kevin Nugents, Kevin Nolan’s and countless others that we have given a chance to and they have sucked. This club needs a manager with some managerial pedigree, we can’t afford a gamble which this clearly is. We need a manager who can lead who has had plenty of experience working with teams in this and lower leagues. Who knows the teams around us and has got the bollox to make changes when needed. Yes I want him to succeed but it’s very unlikely. I would love to be wrong and you be the the one “told you so” but if you are honest with yourself you will agree this was a sh*t appointment.

Every experienced manager started somewhere as a novice. Every one. For sure many don’t make it but then again look at how many experienced managers get sacked.
Go with your judgement and hope it works out.

I guess that Nigel and Kent “ Don’t Know” either but like the rest of us, Hope that Carl Fletcher will be a success.
I think it’s a bit of a gamble but no more than hiring Sol Campbell or Colin Calderwood would have been.
Just my opinion, but I will give full support to the new Manager and the team.

I agree with this 100%. Any manager who is available with league experience under his belt is only available because he’s been sacked from his previous job.

They’ve interviewed him (and others), they’ve spoken to and taken references from others, they bloody well should know.

Only one person thought this was a good appointment before it was official. Since it was official a rush of ticking the good appointment box. Something very fishy going on here.

So you spoken to everybody involved in the whole process and all the players and fans and have come to the conclusion that only 1 person thought this was a good appointment ?
