A figure of £60,000 was mentioned on here as compensation for his existing club. If it is Carl Fletcher, isn’t it a bit steep for somebody who’s currently only a youth team Coach ?

Fletcher is not YT manager, he is their LOAN PLAYER MANAGER.

I read this that he manages the u23's and the loan players - most of whom will be loans out from the u23s, so it makes sense.

I should think that if it’s fletcher that Bournemouth wouldn’t stand in his way and compensation wouldn’t be an issue, after all £60,000 is peanuts to a premier league team. I would think it’s a lower league team that needs the £60,000. So that’s it then, it’s Russell slade.

If it’s going to be a surprise choice, could it be one of two Managers who I don’t think have been mentioned and who met yesterday in the National League - Neal Ardley or Gary Johnson ?

Can you imagine what you'd all be like if we actually did exclusively reveal the new manager before the club!

It would be absolute carnage on here! 😁
Social media is already melting under the anticipation, the club media team must be rubbing their hands in glee as they do love a bit of teasing on the LOFC Twitter before a signing is revealed

I would love Russell to return but seriously doubt it’s him

You lot are so out of whack with what people get paid in this game. I’ll give you an example. I know a goal keeping coach at a championship club, he is on £80k a year basic.

A head of youth section in the premier league I don’t know for sure, but I’d hazard a guess at £250k

Too much can be made of existing salary. My guess is there are people, like John Terry for example, who already have sufficient money but may well be interested in a new career, sufficiently so so accept a drop in money as part of their career aspirations.

Having said that I don’t want Orient to be the training ground for some rich ex-pro wanting to have a dabble in management.

I’m far from Terry’s biggest fan but if he did a couple of years and got Orient promoted, he’d be a hero to all. He’s been assistant manager at Villa in the Championship, I think he’s taking it seriously.

And if he was I doubt salary would be his biggest issue. His Bro played for us too. A decent lower league player. He would have amazing contacts in the game and raise the profile of the club big time. Location too would be OK. Never a dull moment. Villa link too with Dean.

Interesting thought. Warming to the idea.

Kent Teague said, the appointment, early this week, 'will catch a lot of Orient fans by surprise'. Blimey, how do you read that one!!

Sounds like a hitch with the Barnet fella at the last minute. We are going from a currie to a jelly tot.

Be ready for one big disappointment.
It will be a cheap option nobody where certain people like Andy will try to big up.

To be honest he will be better off at Barnet.
Orient is a sideways move.

Martin Ling also said yesterday in his pre-match 'Prawn Sandwich' presentation that most people will be pleased with the new managerial appointment. The plot thickens!!
