Good shout.
Another close friend of Ling who ticks a lot of the boxes.
One thing that is sure, it will be someone Ling has worked with before which doesn’t make them the best candidate.
If I was the owner I would be asking some serious questions if he takes this route.
Hasn’t done much for over 10 years.
Just signed a new 2 year contract with Cambridge.
Quoting yourself? Did you mean to log in as someone else so you could argue with yourself?

Could have a get out clause if a league club comes in.

If this is an ambitious appointment then I’m a banana.
If he gets the job it will only be because he is Lings mate.

Apparently a room mate with JE when they were at Spurs.
Can’t quite see why that makes him the best candidate.

Past history would indicate otherwise. Is our ambition greater than Ling’s Christmas card list?

His record suggest he's loyal to the teams he's managed and been the number two at so can't see him coming here. His managerial record suggests he's more than up to the Orient job and in the years he was out of management he worked at a much higher level than L2. Would be an excellent choice, but as I said would be surprised if he jumped ship.

He does not play football the way the club plays its football. I don't see any evidence of that changing anytime soon, thankfully.

I don't doubt he is a good manager, but I would not want to watch the rubbish he serves up. His football is dated, it's from a bygone era.

Players are taught from a young age to play a certain way, you may call it tippy tappy if you like, but the technical.ability of youngsters is improving massively and I just cant see the whole clubs blueprint ripped up for a manager who could be considered as employing dinosaur style football.

I think i’d Prefer our No.1 Supporter, otherwise known as Byways, than Steve Bruce.

Calderwood into 1/2 now.

Not gonna believe it until someone is 1/6 or less.

Calderwood stole Locky from us in 2007. I will never forgive him.

Calderwood would make us hard to beat, his record in this league is decent and he got Northampton up with us back in 2006 - I think he would do an ok job. He also knows Ross Embleton as well I think - Which is another box ticked in terms of trying to land someone willing to work with our current staff.

Having said that, he can be a bit cynical in his tactics and I think he would divide the fans a bit with this like Slade did.

He would have to turn it around quickly IMO, because then people will start asking questions about whether or not Ling is just hiring his mate for the sake of it.

I'd be happy enough with this and willing to give him a chance, he's managed to turn the corner with Cambridge on their small budget and summer of cost cutting.

We need an experienced manager who knows this division, we'd have that in Calderwood. I accept though things will get ropey if the plan fails.....................

Few see out contracts to the end nowadays.
Didn't Bonne say 'my eyes ain't been wandered' when it turned out the Charlton move had been on since the end of the season?

The only effect would be that we would have to pay a bigger fee to get Cambridge to release him. If they are in need of cash, then it might be quite persuasive. I am sure the owners would back Ling.

I don't think they would have much attachment to him. He joined them in similar circumstances last year when they were 22nd, they ended up finishing 21st. Relegation ain't on the cards for them, perhaps they might like to twist and go for another manager.

He might be unique in that he has had many years with both Ling and Edinburgh, so might be a logical choice to deal with the change the club needs. Not convinced he will be a great manager though, at least Justin had some recent success, Calderwoods is all 10+ years ago now.
