No doubt DCFC would have taken a different view Had he slipped over on holiday around the pool, but he didn't. He got into a car p***** with a p***** driver. As this was a 'club night', no doubt they're taking the view of gross misconduct, (which is what he was sacked for) which is hard to argue with.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 10:55 pmHe wasn't driving the car and the 2 people who caused the crashed are still employed. This is complete opportunism by Derby to get rid of a high earner. They were happy for him to stay if he took the cut. He could have slipped over on holiday around a pool and done the same injury, would they have sacked him then? Would they have asked him to take a pay cut?Scuba Diver wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 8:58 pm Plenty defending Keogh, and attacking the club on social media, it seems.
Guess the club's viewpoint is the player is no longer of use to them (at 34 and with an ACL), so why should they pay him £24k a week when the injury sustained is seen as wholly a by-product of his own stupidity.
Guess Derby probably offered him a drop to about £6k, which he turned down flat.
Staggered that such a humdrum Championship player appears to have been earning that sort of money for the last 7 years, in all honesty. No wonder DCFC are fuming.
You're wrong. Firstly, the 2 people who caused the crash are still employed. Secondly, they offered him the chance to stay at the club if he took a pay cut. This has nothing to do with gross misconduct, this is completely about getting him off the wage bill. So no, it isn't hard to argue with.Scuba Diver wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 7:24 amNo doubt DCFC would have taken a different view Had he slipped over on holiday around the pool, but he didn't. The 2 people who caused the crash are still employed Because they're still able to do their jobs Despite their own mis-judgements. Keogh isn't.
I agree though, it Is opportunism by Derby, and does smell, but as a business, their actions are hardly unexpected.
