Re: Lineup for today
Either of our CMs are basically undroppable because the club still hasn't recruited that position correctly for the best part of 2 seasons now. Says it all that our best hope of a combative CM is a kid on loan from Spurs.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 2:54 pmYeah, because he has to do the job of an attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder and cover for Josh Wright who is incapable of holding position or sensing danger. He's not out the team because he needs a rest (6 weeks into the season), he's out the team because Josh Wright is undroppable, despite being poo poo.
Aside from Wright being slated (seems to get a lot more stick for his surname as much as his football) Clay hasn't been bursting upfield and flying back, he just looks leggy and can't keep up with play. Given most of our squad don't look particularly fit either I'm leaning towards that being the issue more than him doing the work of two men.
Solution today, put 3 men in the place of 2 and at least try and address the CM problem. Fingers crossed it works.

Must agree with you about Clay, he would be in any of my starting 11 versionDisoriented wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 2:37 pmClay on the bench is madness.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 2:20 pm Clay on the bench. Terrible decision.
Ling has paid his subs for the next month to guarantee his starting place then.

Re: Lineup for today
Lucky to be 1-1 tbh.
We have been combative in midfield and Marsh has been our best midfielder by a distance. Gorman and Wright have been less than average, getting a foot in but nothing creative coming from our CM's.
JMD has done OK in a wide right position and Dennis started well but but absolutely no end product from either of them.
Exeter's goal was coming they get behind the full backs and cause problems with their pace breaking forward much as Swindon did last week. their crossing is so much better than ours. why their disallowed goal was ruled out is a bit of a mystery, It looked OK.
Angols goal came out of nothing really, crap effort by Gorman fell nicely to him but he tucked it away well and he has battled well for us with little support.
Would bite your hand off for a point as it stands.

Sounds like a draw would be a great result.Top of the West. wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 4:04 pm Lucky to be 1-1 tbh.

Re: Lineup for today
More the 3 in the middle and then as a result having to make the most of our attacking assets in JMD, Dennis and Angol rather than aimless hoofball.
Keep going O's, all about game management now and watching for anyone tiring.
