I juat checked, there are five options for gender:
Male, female, Non binary, prefer to self describe, prefer, not to say. There are 10 options for religion, incliding other and prefer not to say, all of the major religions are there and none are split into denominations. There are two other questions on disabilty and ethnicity, in total it would take less than 30 seconds to fill in.

On the evidence I've seen i don't think it is the world that is the problem.

They and them are plural pronouns, so inappropriate unless he is schizophrenic. β€œit” is the only singular alternative, but he might not want to use that in case people thought about his singing and preceded it with sh!!πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹
