Wow, that’s great, why didn’t I think of playing 12 players.

It's crazy but it just might work.

I was sitting within earshot of Ross Embelton for Tuesday night’s game and he was not too pleased with Ogie’s second half performance.
Talking on Wednesday about Ogie, Ross said, “I think a night like tonight was fantastic because yes, he did very, very well in the first half, but what it does now is it gives us a real opportunity to show him that he’s good, different sides of his game and in a competitive environment so we could only have done him an incredible amount of favours tonight to be involved in that.”
Doesn’t sound as if he will be starting on Saturday.

Nor should he. He's certainly a talent, but we have good, solid, senior players who can play this position. It's one thing performing well against the worst team in League 1's reserve side in a no-pressure trophy game, and performing against an in-form side in front of a big crowd in a league game.

Totally different.

Which is why he needs some time on the bench to get used to the step up.

I have to confess that I didn't go to this game (can't be bothered with the competition. I'd be interested to know what sort of team Southend fielded. I have no idea of their regular team for league matches, but wondered if anyone else has and could say how many Southend regulars were playing.

The above might explain Ogie's performance (of course it might not).

Of course, if it was a poor opposition, it didn't help Alabi!

Southend started with 7 or so players that hadn’t been in the team the previous game, but so did the orient.
Ogies performance was the best individual display I’ve seen this season by any orient player and was all the better because he was not only facing a very energetic physical winger but was frequently left facing 2 players due to Dennis not tracking back.
If Embleton did make that comment then he is clueless. I counted one miss placed pass by him in the entire game and he was the man of the match by a proverbial mile.

He’s only as on the bench when absolutely necessary, such as Happe having parties and stuff.

Now is not the time to throw an untried inexperienced kid into the team.

Red o, so if we are on a winning run we don’t disturb a winning side, and according to your wisdom if we are losing and shipping goals we don’t play him because he is inexperienced. Total nonsense, we play him because he is an excellent player, quicker than any other of our full backs, stronger than any of our full backs and more energetic than any of our full backs. You are acting as though he has never seen a football before. Have you ever seen ogie play?

I never said you don’t play him when we’re winning. That’s the ideal time to blood youngsters. Give him some time around the matchday squad on the bench, bring him on for 15-20 mins initially.

You simply don’t throw a youngster into the team when we’re in the position we’re currently in.

'Shadrach Ogie'' !! He really does look like the real deal, I picked him out for mention on whatever Leyton Orient forum was in place at the time as one for the future when I first saw him as a 16 year old in a live video broadcast of the Os youngsters 3-1 win against Plymouth Argyle. This game in May 2018, was advertised on Orient twitter and ended in Orient's U18's team being crowned as Merit League Two champions after a 3-1 win at the Matchroom Stadium. His contract runs out the end of this season, we need to get a contract extension for him ASAP.
Surely for a start, at least give him a place on the bench soon and get him on for a run out last 20 or so minutes, I rate him but IMO, bring him in gradually for a start and see how he gets on.

You discovered him Sid, there is no doubt about that. Mind you, you also championed Christian Scales.

He’s played 13 games this season and scored 3 goals, in division 2 in Sweden.

No the club did that !! I just happened to notice him in that game that was shown live online( as did others ) and upon watching him play, thought he looked a young player to keep an eye on for the future.

''Mind you, you also championed Christian Scales.''
Yes Christian Scales, still only 22 years old and I often think there were things going on as to why he did not make it here, He looked really classy when I saw him play against some very good sides in the League Harlow played in ( Harlow had a very good side at the end of that season ) Nearly every week he got very highly rated write ups in the local paper. I have a feeling that perhaps there were reasons it did not work out for him, attitude to training perhaps, who knows what goes on. There are many talented footballers who do not make it whilst less talented ones come through for good carers. What annoyed me at the time was the fact that so many people on this forum were putting him down..........who had never even seen him kick a ball !! Scales is now playing for a team in Sweden. He must have had something about him, played for both Norwich and Crystal Palace in under 18 football and had a good left foot when he overlapped and put in PROPER crosses on the run when overlapping as a wing back. Also played a a left winger at times for Harlow. Getting a regular game for his Swedish team and has scored 3 goals in 13 games this season. Down to him to put the work in if he is to come good !!

Genuinely funny how Sid always acts like he was the only person who noticed or mentioned a promising player's potential.

Include Christian Scales in this though, as that's genuinely funny for the opposite reason

Don't be so hard on yourself, no need to sign yourself off as simple. 😏

Although a huge prospect, I feel it's still too early to bring him in, especially in a team that's struggling for points. Although he hasn't been great this season so far I would stick with Joe W & play Ogie in the next EFL game v Wimbledon. If he performs in that as well & hopefully we will have a new manager in place by then, he may decide to stick with him.
