Blowing a load of players hamstrings to get through to a home tie we will lose seems a bit silly to me. We already know there’s no money to spend in the transfer window this Jan so any injuries are going to seriously damage a play off push.
It will be more income for the reasons others have already stated. But it’s not like an away game share of a 50,000 attendance.

I agree, it shouldn’t change anything, the play offs are still the priority.
Will the TV rights really be that high anyway? It’s the only thing that would be different compared to being drawn at home against any other club.

Also, if the club raise ticket prices by a significant amount that would be a PR disaster.
Tamworth apparently charged £38-£40 tickets and £25 for under 10’s.
Of course our prices would increase significantly if we get to play Man City.

Not everything is about money (or at least it shouldn’t be). The chance to play against one of the best prem sides ever is such a rarity that we should throw everything at it. The fans deserve it as do the players. Obviously you can’t play semi-fit players but we should defo put out the strongest team we have at our disposal in order to give us the best chance of getting through IMO.
I’m not disagreeing with your point but a genuine question for you (and anybody else who wishes to answer):

If you could only pick one which would you prefer:

1. Play Man City at home in the cup but don’t make play offs this season

2. Lose to Derby but make play offs this season
I totally get your point. I guess I still think we are a bit short to make it up via the playoffs anyway and the romantic in me would love to see us have a crack at a top top prem team at home.

I dont really see why it has to be one or the other though. We could still play our strongest team available vs Derby and possibly get through and still make the playoffs so i say go hell for leather for both.

Should we beat Derby, I think most fans would accept higher ticket prices to see us get a crack at Manchester City. Once in a decade game, after all.

I don’t know how much tv money we get.

We will be able to charge the normal £25/30 per ticket x 9,000 x 45%. That’s a fair chunk of money to us.

Why would it be a PR disaster? Limited availability to see your team play against one of the best sides in the country, an event which hardly ever happens. Hardly a shock that the club would increase prices from £10 is it ????

With Agyei and OON out, I believe Richie said we had 16 fit players to pick from.

There really isn’t that much tinkering Richie can do anyway.

Of course they wouldn’t charge £10 for tickets against City. I’m talking about charging significantly higher than normal league fixture prices.

I assume they would charge the usual Cat A game rates. Which seems reasonable to me.

I remember having to pay 50p for a ticket against Chelsea in the Cup in 1972 the price was usually 25p for a league game.
I also remember joining the queue by the West stand on a Sunday morning for the ticket office in Brisbane Road. The price of programme went up from 5p to 10p!
I wouldn't mind them putting up the prices if we played a Premier league club. But I doubt they would double the price.

According to this 3 players back...

https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/ ... nt-9855459

And if Adams is a clogger what does that make our midfield that he's bossed every time he plays us. Best hope is Clare being fit to start, he could compete physically.

Is there any chance the Derby game might be televised domestically on Tuesday now? Should be a keenly contested game given the reward on offer.

For fans of premier league teams, a home draw in an early round against a small team is a more attractive proposition than a home draw against Everton or Fulham.
