I dated a Scotch woman some years back and one Christmas spent at her place o had to sit through the Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas special. It was toe-curlingly awful. We split up a couple of days later.

I think it deserves its institution status.
Watched the finale yesterday, having not seen an episode previously. What a load of cack. The drunken scenes were some of the cringiest stuff I’ve ever seen.

I had always thought Rob Brydon was the girls dad 😮

I enjoyed it. Decent send off. Quite funny how everyone - correctly - hates Corden until he turns into Smithy. Rare example of a dislikeable person playing a much more popular character rather than the other way around.

Always belly laugh after belly laugh. Greatest comedy sitcom since Only Fools IMO.

Last of a dying breed in that format since BBC comedy got ruined by the woke. Entertainment genius will always shine through.
Exactly.
Admittedly I didn’t give Mrs Browns boys much of a chance in the past, but it’s nowhere near as bad as people say. Gave it a chance and found it genuinely funny - proper slapstick in the British tradition, and some very clever fourth wall breaking. Leaving aside how woke it is that the lead character is a she/her, it’s a proper wholesome comedy. Everyone who doesn’t like it is just a snob

I just don’t get it. I can’t stand that fat tw@t Corden for a start and I don’t find it funny at all. Oh well, I didn’t like a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and loved friends so what do I know.

Not going to lie, I’d have thought it was right up your street.

I've seen James Corden in a few acting roles and always thought he was very good. I'm not sure what it is that so many seem to find objectionable about him, but maybe I've missed some stories in the press or something. Always quite liked Gavin and Stacey but the finale was pretty poor in my opinion - some real over the top acting from several characters and few laughs

Outnumbered was very lame. It’s Xmas special 8 years ago was decent. Comedy needs to be funny.

Hasn't really been funny since the kids started getting older

The funny part of Outnumbered was when the kids were being kids and a lot was unscripted. The Xmas special had no kids in it

Jools Holland Hootenanny has excelled itself this year - really poor line-up. Ismithian League standard.
