It’s worrying that some people can’t see Wellens is the best manager we’ve had since Slade.
Difference being one was semi successful and they other one is failing badly.
I wouldn’t say Slade failed badly. Granted he never won a title but reaching the play offs with that budget was commendable.
Hmm. Are you aware of how tenses work

Russell Slade, who endured a whole season and a bit that was worse than this, and had many calling for his head too… before delivering the best side any Orient fan under 60 has ever seen.
Orient aren’t sacking Wellens any time soon, and nor should they.

Can't believe anyone is advising sacking Richie
Without him, this current squad would be bottom of the league without a win
The board would be better sacking Ling, who I think is mainly responsible for this terrible squad we have
Richie is the best we could get now

Same old rubbish about our terrible form being all lings fault, despite the countless times our recruitment has been explained to fans.
I guess some people just find it easier to believe something simple because reality is too complicated and scary for them.

I absolutely refuse to believe that Wellens has no input at all in signings. It was Wellens himself who wanted Kelman back, ffs.
Wellens is also far too defensive in my opinion, and some of his tactics and substitutions are baffling. Most of our football over the last 15 months had been turgid at best, and he has to carry the can for that.

On what metric is Ling actually judged?

Terrible transfer window in January, which we were directly told was due to poor processes (which the DoF is responsible for else why is he even in a job?)
Terrible summer transfer window when supposedly the best deals are available, again if the DoF isn't in charge of it aka "Martin does the recruitment" why do we need the position? Academy isn't doing anything useful and women's team has been spun out now.
The manager has been repeatedly frustrated by the club's slow recruitment processes and there's been a number of interviews where he's spoken of certain requirements then ends up with completely different players.
As for the goalkeeping shambles little else needs to be said about that, it's a good summary of window as a whole.
If we do indeed have a mid-table budget the recruitment is underperforming. It did the same for Jackett so regardless of whatever PR the club puts out it needs improvement and change.

Lingy has to take the wrap for our approach of going cheap with the likes of Perkins, Hemmings, DJ etc when they just ain’t up to it. Total false economy.

Interestingly a parallel discussion on the same topic is taking place on the other board with a similar conclusion.
Also recall the club decided as a strategy to go for youth loanees rather than solid if unspectacular L1 / higher L2 pros.

He signed a contract worth a few bob, so maybe he is less worried than us, who struggle to pay to watch his clueless management skills?

I agree sacking Richie would not help orient the players need to stand up and be counted yes the recruitment has been very poor ling is qt foult for that and the owners running

out of money let's not forget what nigel has done for us but some players need to go or droped for the next game please stop playing kelman on the wing drop him to the bench so we ha e a decent forward coming off the bench to try and change the game perkins is not the answer that's why he can't get into Leeds team play Warrington and brown galbraith Neil and ball in the Midland agyei up front keep keeley in goal

Ling is the elephant in the room. I hope the owners suddenly realise at long last. Save a bit of cash and show him the door. Nothing will get worse if they booted him out this morning.

I’ve said for years that we don’t need a DoF at out level.

I can't argue with this. Ling's role has a 'cross-over' into the administration side, and also he would not set the budget.
Whilst the football can occasionally be incisive and entertaining, it's often the opposite: handbrake on, safety first, and we simply don't shoot. The players take the directive from the manager.
Further, were I a player, his endless bawling and micro-management would do my head in, so 'perhaps' he's starting to lose the dressing room a little. In the end, nearly all managers do.. As a team, we look like the opposition has worked us out.
I'm not advocating we sack Wellens, but I think some on here over-rate him. It would be interesting to see the views of Swindon/Donny/Salford fans as to Wellens' abilities...
