Can't judge him after one game but this has been a horror show of a debut. Aside from both goals he's looked nervy as f*** all match.
I agree but that shouldn't have been the case after playing a whole season in the SPL last season . He's got enough experience to be competent at our level . Hopefully today was just a bad day at the office .

I expect he'll get another game or two to prove himself. We don't have much time if a replacement is needed. Not sure there'd be much point swapping him out for Howes.
Agreed. Howes has already shown he isn’t L1 standard.
I expect the plan was to give Sam a runout on Tuesday night but after today, we can’t afford to. Hemming has to play.

On today's showing I'm not sure Hemming's is League One standard either .

Let's hope he's got his bad decisions done in one game because the two goals conceded were about the level I expected from the Niger U17 women's side.
Very disappointed to see that first one go in. He seemed to just dive over it for no real reason.
On the subject of loan keepers v. Perm - Yeovil had a knackered of having a loan keeper for about 5 years in a row. It did them ok from memory going up from L2 to the Championship. Just depends on the quality of the keepers.
That’s maybe one good example in 125+ years of the professional game

I can’t believe after 2 seasons we are still looking for a decent replacement in goal.
WTF has the club been doing since Vigs left? Very little by the looks of it. Two young keepers who at best are average, a player who only ever played non league until he came to Orient and another unproven youth team player.
I’m sure the keeper tried his best today but if the club has to look at itself and its recruitment criteria on goalkeepers.

Nobody in England wanted to touch Vigs & we got him dirt cheap. Not easy to replace & good ones cost. Let's hope he picks up form & wins us points from now on.

Exactly this. Howes has never been the answer and is in the squad as reserve. If the new lad isn’t up to it then we send him back and look for another. That’s the advantage of it being a loan agreement. No point playing our sub keeper all season.

Exactly. Hopefully proven wrong really quickly and we all forget about today - him especially - but I expected him to have a bit more about him in the way he carried himself, since it wasn't exactly his first pro game.

This.
It wasn’t just the 2 goals. He looked hesitant every time he was called upon. He flapped at the only other cross he came for which he should have collected. His distribution wasn’t great. I don’t remember him doing one thing of note.
Let’s pray it was just a case of his confidence being smashed after the early howler.

If his confidence can be knocked that easily then he's out of his depth.

Reflecting on that keepin performance… think it needs to be seen in context before judging too harshly.
What it undoubtedly was was a nightmare debut, and it’s easy to see how a nightmare debut can spiral from that first mistake into being a full on horror show performance, especially if you don’t get to make a big reflex save to instil confidence, and while the oppo is having the game of his life.
I feel like it’s perhaps easier to build on a horror show debut and get the confidence up, than it is to address a tendency to be error prone across a season.
If his history isn’t one of lots of errors/flapping/loss of confidence, then maybe his career at Orient isn’t dead on arrival

Clearly the club has failed miserably to bring in quality proven players at this level or above this season, trying to get by with loans and anyone who is cheap .The club need desperately to get a massive investor/investors into the club if we are to be a club serious about progressing to the Championship or we will be treading water or relegated.

The second goal, it happens, but that first goal, it was so bad you wonder how a professional can make that mistake without it being part of his DNA. He literally pulled his arms in instead of pushing them out to stop the ball. In fact, it was so bad, most people including me initially, were not putting it down as a bad error. Just rewatch it though, it’s awful goalkeeping.

You could tell from the very start that he was a bottler, no command of his area, kicking was awful the fact he was brought in relatively late to the squad and had little prep biggest thing of all he’s not permanent.

Ling will be sweating now. Anymore mistakes and he must get someone better before the window shuts.
It's too late . Our keeper this season will be either Hemming or Howes . On yesterday's showing Howes is the better keeper .

There is no doubt the club has had a poor Summer transfer window . I don't know where we'll finish this season but in my opinion we won't be as high as in the play off places . Our squad is too weak . if these next three signings are all first choice starters then I'll reconsider my opinion .

Difficult choice on Tuesday for RW
Does he play Hemmings, to see what he’s like again in match conditions, hopefully have a good game and build his confidence?
Or give Howes a run out , which will help if RW decides needs to replace Hemmings if we get any more performances like yesterday.

To be honest I think Richie is obliged to stick with Hemming. He's supposed to be our first choice keeper so needs to get yesterday out of his system . However more performances like yesterday then give Howes a chance . He can't be any worse .

Window doesn't shut for about three weeks
Orient are not renowned for their speed in the transfer market .

Do people know for a fact that Ling picks the players to actually sign? It's up to Richie when all is said and done...if Richie doesn't want his he wont take him.
