Another incredible photo, which possibly show a bullet ripping past his head.

I always assumed there were security checks on people as they entered the area like getting their bags checks etc. How did this guy manage to smuggle through a rife . Edit . On the radio the weapon was described as a rife , not a handgun .

BBC interview with a Trump supporter eyewitness seemed to suggest the rooftop shooter was outside the main event.

According to the BBC earlier, the shooter may not have been within the rally compound. The building he was on top of was just outside (c100 meters away), and the roof had a clear line of sight of the podium.

There's no way anyone should have been able to get onto that roof. Security should have identified the risk and had operatives guarding it. A major security f*ck up, so expect heads to roll.

The authorities reckon there are more guns in circulation in America than people . My friend's Uncle lives in America and own's 9 guns . One for each room of his house . Apparently the idea is if he's getting burgled one night he knows where every gun is to take a shot . Basically it seems like everybody has got a gun , good people and bad . There is already enough weapons available for a civil war so thank God Trump wasn't shot dead yesterday .

Shooter was on a roof outside of the security perimeter, said about 150 metres from where Trump was standing.

Even if it has what chance has any politician in America got of putting this genie back in the bottle . That particular horse bolted decades or even centuries ago . There are more guns in America than people .

Trump is very pro guns and has this mad theory that if everyone has a gun then the ''good guys'' can together take out the ''bad guys'' !!

Isn’t he pro gun law, wants to keep and get more. The American constitution has “ The right to bare arms” well that was ok 200 years ago to hunt for food but you don’t need a gun to go shopping at Costco. The bloke is a bone head and we are all in trouble when he gets elected perhaps he will think twice now but I doubt it

The Rednecks Trump supporters from the mainly South have never got over losing to the North in the American Civil war, so many fanatical Rednecks talk of starting another Civil war against the South if Trump does not win the next election by means of raising armed militias and taking on the US armed forces, crazy talk indeed !

I haven’t read anywhere about anyone being injured or taken to hospital?
