Calm down, no need to get your jock strap in a twist. We're just having a discussion about a situation on the field of play last night ? Ok, no one said it was "easy" but someone sounded a bit derisive of the player about ' a fluffed effort' on goal.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 9:48 am Is anyone saying it was an easy chance? But he totally fluffed it, that’s clear.
It was very similar to the last minute opportunity the Italian bloke curled into the far corner of the Croats net the night before.

Re: Cole Palmer
And rightly so, it was a complete fluff.
I half expected the ref to give a foul against their keeper for picking up a back pass.

Re: Cole Palmer
So what that it was a 'complete fluff' ? Do you want a court of enquiry over it. (Apart from the fact that everything else the player did was spot on).
And for you to intimate that he should be left out of the next game is ludicrous.

Re: Cole Palmer
General consensus was that Palmer acquitted himself very well, thank you. The chance that is referred to was late in the game following a v good move. Objectively, he was outside the penalty area, he hit the target. Could have had more velocity, but never a “fluff”, let alone a “total” one.

It was an absolute scufferoonie. Straight at the keeper, along the ground, at walking pace.
He had a great game, always looking to make things happen but let’s not be silly about the fluffed opportunity.

Re: Cole Palmer
It's you that's being silly. You have blown this up out of all proportion. Haven't you, with all your knowledge of the game, seen 'fluffed' chances before including even from the world's top players..
So no one is saying it wasn't a weak effort on goal. You're just arguing for arguing sake. Best for you to just give it up.

I’m the one arguing for arguing a sake?
I merely replied to CF, agreeing with his assessment of Cole’s fluffed chance. It is you who has then started disagreeing and arguing with us….

Yes, you can scuff a shot or a pass anywhere on the pitch. I certainly can.
What a strange question.

Is it possible for you to not scuff a shot from outside the box?

To clarify: what I meant was Is it possible to "scuff" a goal-scoring chance if the shot is taken from outside the penalty area? It was not exactly an "open goal."

Re: Cole Palmer
You know what 'scuff' means, right?
No one is claiming it was an easy chance. But Palmer scuffed the shot. Unless you think he meant to trickle the ball straight at the keeper.

Re: Cole Palmer
Where have I said that I disagree it was a fluffed chance or tame effort? You're making all this up as you go along. You are just full of obfuscation. You point this out about, arguably, our best player even if he did play for only 20 mins or so...ludicrous. No one is arguing that it wasn't a tame effort on goal. I don't know what you're looking at when watching a game but tame, feeble or fluffed efforts on goal are seen on a regular basis. This is why you are simply arguing with yourself and no one else. Just clutching at straws. I'm glad to say I'm ditching this thread now as I think you should, unless of course you want to continue making yourself look silly.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 11:05 pm I’m the one arguing for arguing a sake?

Re: Cole Palmer
I’m definitely not arguing with myself.
It was you who took exception to my post where I agreed with a previous comment. You started all this.
We created one proper chance in the game. It fell to Palmer. He scuffed his shot and fluffed it.
