Re: Leyton Pub News
Craft beer is absolutely not a marketing ploy, or at least it wasn’t initially. The issue is that big brewing companies have taken to repackaging some of their beers in pretty cans and bottles and giving it a funny name. Just read the label carefully.

Never understood craft beer except as excuse to charge more, much like saying a hotel is a boutique hotel and putting prices up.WilliamTell wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 2:23 pmCraft beer is just a marketing ploy. It is supposed to be a beer from a small independent brewery but the big brewers have latched onto it. Much the way the mega companies bought real ale breweries and are now closing them down. Under that criteria the three you mention would not qualify.Give it to Jabo wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 12:07 pm The pub world is being taken over by Golden Ales and craft beer. If Abbot/Doombar/London Pride is not craft ale, what is?

Anyone go in the refurbished Leyton Engineer? It is only for home fans btw. Do the away fans have a bar? Maybe Kapture wine bar?

I went there last night. Just like the coach & horses you need to show your (season) ticket. Its nice enough and sells a variety of beers, but the staff are learning the ropes and typically 2-3 barrels went just as it got busy. A nice relaxed ambience inside. The toilets have moved upstairs (a major plus). £6.20 for the premium of the 2 lagers. I will go again soon (probably about 1.45pm Saturday!).

Nigel will go ballistic when he reads this. If I was you I would avoid him for a few weeks until he calms down.LittleMate wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 1:57 pm I went there last night. On a serious note, the SS bar now has a bit of soul with the addition of some large pictures but until they dampen the sound down using carpet on the floor then beer sales will be down. The solid floor is creating the wrong type of noise. Its like drinking in an underground cavern.
