Looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead

IRON Manager Angelo Harrop and Chairman Lee Harding met up at the Rare Breed Meat Co Stadium on Thursday evening to discuss the forthcoming National League season. A positive discussion followed with the Club offering Angelo a new improved contract and support for his recommendation to switching from part-time to full time training.
Chairman Lee Harding was pleased with progress made: "With the important support of our sponsors, we are able to reward Angelo with the job security he deserves and to support his suggestion about switching to full time training.
"All of us at the Club realise the challenge that faces us next season, but we do have years of experience at that level and we were, of course, within touching distance of promotion to the Football League as recently as 2016."

SHIRT and stadium sponsors The Rare Breed Meat Co. have kindly agreed to extend their sponsorship of the Club for next season and Harding was delighted: "The support from George and Howard at The Rare Breed Meat Co. really helped the Club last season and will be even more important as we take the step up to the National League and full-time football. It's a real shot in the arm for the Club."

MATCHDAY and season ticket prices were agreed at a board meeting and it was decided to increase prices to give the squad the resources necessary to be competitive at the higher level.
Harding said: "We do realise how tough it is for so many of our community at this time, that's why we have kept our admission prices unchanged for six years, despite inflation.
"But we want to help Angelo build a squad that can be competitive and I do believe that we will once again be one of the best priced at our level, with season tickets offering even better deals!
"We will also be putting a budget in place to improve facilities at the ground while we continue to negotiate with Braintree Council about relocating to a new stadium to match the Club's long term ambitions."

THE Chairman concluded: "Finally, on behalf of the Club, thank you to all our supporters and sponsors for backing the lads through a remarkable 2023/24 campaign and we invite you all to join us on the journey again next season. Enjoy your summer and see you all in July!"
Excellent news but unless they find another few hundred on the gate every week they are going to struggle financially.

Christ mate, let it go.

What are you getting so het up about? I've already said the Sears figure being bandied about on the terraces was ridiculous. And just that, a rumour doing the rounds.

300 x £20 x 23 games = £138k. Small change to some local, wealthy families.

Based on the rumour I heard, no.

Sears is done at National League level, anyway.

Braintree don’t necessarily need that many new people to show up because they’ve got rich owners

Sounds like the sponsors are not mincing their words and good to see the manager won't be getting the chop anytime soon.

I heard that he was on £2,000 per week plus an appearance fee of a kilo of Angus Beef steaks and a bonus of a single Pheasant (or in season game meat equivalent) per goal.

There was also mention of a one off promotion bonus of a large poultry hamper but that was to be shared amongst the squad.

A County wide weekly meat raffle could be a boost to their coffers.

So you think the difference between running a club part time in National South and full time in National Premier would be £138k a year you really are completely clueless, stick to rumour mongering. Or perhaps you could contact some of those rich families in Coggeshall that live in your imagination and ask them to bung some money in.

16 full time pro's at an average of £600 a week is a tad under £500k add manager and staff contracts at least another £100k add NI payments due from the club, add money for ground improvements and I reckon at the very least its a million for every season they stay full time.

£1m sounds like small beer to an independently wealthy yeoman farmer of Essex.

Seriously, calm down dear!

You said they would struggle financially unless they found a few hundred extra fans each week. All I've done is quantify the shortfall that you have identified (300 fans x £20 x 23 games would produce an extra £138k revenue).

Perfectly calm thanks I never quantified 300 you did, they would need more like another 1000 extra fans to get near to paying their wages full time so can you put all these wealthy Coggeshall families in touch with Braintree's chairman please - I'm sure he would be grateful. Thanks

You quantified it mate. 300 ain't going to do a lot it's going to cost a lot of money far more than you think, still as I say the address is

"The Chairman"
Braintree Town Football Club.
The rare Breed Meat Stadium.
Cressing Road off Clockhouse Way.
Braintree.
3M7 3DE.

Put him in touch with these wealthy Coggeshall families, he will appreciate it.

This is tragic.

You just typed they need an extra few hundred fans on the gate. That's what you typed. Are you saying you didn't type that? Or are you saying that you've changed your mind?

I have never said they only need a few hundred extra fans. I just typed that the few extra hundred fans you claimed the club needs would produce an extra £138k additional gate revenue. That's all.

(If you have changed your mind, that's fine, just admit it rather than carrying on with this nonsense :D )

Only thing that's tragic is your terrible attempts at wumming.

I haven't changed anything - I can't help it if you can't read.

I said they need a few hundred more on the gate but it was you that said 300 and I pointed out that they need more than that.

A 1000 on average a game required to get near the money they would need for full time wages.

Best thing is to end it right here and you can go away and WUM and somewhere else.

You are truly pathetic.

So we're arguing over the definition of 'few'? Is that right?

I have always assumed a few means more than 2 (a couple) but not a lot. Same as say 'several'.

You think a few means 10?

I totally agree this is in the top few conflicts I've witnessed on here, too.

But I don't think it's really about this. It has the feeling of a domestic spat, when you know there's some deeper, underlying issue that's the true cause of the petty squabbles.
