Suspect he definitely saw them as having hit a ceiling. Expect them to fall away next year especially if they don't hold on to Reid.
More likely Rotherham offered him a wage fatter than his waistline. Money talks.

It might be tough at first, the Paul Terry appointment caused a fuss, but once the results kicked in and people realised that Evans was a winner who can take this club to the next level then people would embrace him

Let's just pause and consider the most important aspect of all this: Stevenage fans will be gutted.

12 years & 3 EFL Promotios, Wellens has 2 in 6 years. I Know who I want & He is already here.

The Wife would have divorced me by now if I had relocated her to Boston, Crawley, Rotherham, Peterborough, Gillingham, Stevenage and back to Rotherham!

Wouldn't it be great if Stevenage beat Oxford on Friday. They could end up 3 points off play off on last day. If they ended up in play off without Evans that would be hilarious.

Not surprised given the incredible job he’s done at Stevenage
His record speaks for itself how he regularly gets success and promotions at a lot of the clubs he goes to
Someone I think Travis should take a look at when Wellens eventually leaves.
Agree. Is it a stretch to perhaps move RW “upstairs” now and see if we could get Evans?
Would be an ambitious move by the board but would almost certainly mean a promotion to the Championship within three seasons
I don’t like the way he asks his players to play. No style but he gets them to play above their ability. That said his team will be in the mix next season. No way do we want him to be our manager

Look at the table and goal difference . There is no way of them getting into the play offs

Makes a change to read a sensible and balanced comment on here regarding Steve Evans.
A lot of very immature and derogatory things said about the man on this thread.
Like Evans or loath him, the fact is that he is a very successful EFL football manager, especially so for smaller teams that have a limited budget to play with.

Although he is a vile man, Evans is a good league1 / 2 manager/coach........his record tells you that.
I suspect starting next month, he will bring in about 10 new players, including a few from Stevenage, and Rotherham will be challenging next season

Much of the bitterness and dislike for Steve Evans from Os fans is purely down to the fact that his then team ''Rotherham United'' beat Leyton Orient in the The 2014 Football League One play-off final. After leading 2=0 at half time, Os lost on penalties at the end of extra time, time to move on.

Unless the Stevenage players are out of contract he can’t just take them

He cleared out a load of players at Stevenage and rebuilt the team with League One standard players . I suspect he'll do the same thing at Rotherham accept with bringing in Championship standard players . I also expect him to raid Stevenage for players like Reid .

Rubbish, Most O's fans hate him for the Boston contract scandal, considering 1999/2000 season we could have left the league due to cheating from him is the more likely reason he is hated. Wembley defeat just adds to that.

My favourite part of that Boston story was when HMRC raided the club, an employee was spotted running from the offices
across the pitch carrying a desktop PC.
