Yes, very poor result. Let's see how the first month at least goes though before we start crying like babies because we're not getting our own way.

The club won't overreact based on one loss but maybe after this we will see them decide to use the remaining budget on some upgrades.
Much tougher games coming up than Macclesfield so they better . I don't care about promotion this season but I just want us to be safe so this needs to be sorted ASAP.
That's the variability of football though. Good teams have bad days sometimes. Bad teams have good days sometimes. I think we should at least see how the first month goes to determine how good we actually are.

Agree with this that Ross deserves a chance but we do have to act sharpish after 10 games if it isn’t working out. We can not afford to let emotions get in the way and leave us in a relegation battle.

My thoughts are along the same lines as you both that eventually we will need a replacement (I was thinking they might do that in October or November) and that there will be contingency plans. Managers will be sacked in the first couple of months so potentially better options will become available as time goes by (in the same way Edinburgh was recently available after we sacked Davis)
Not really sure you engaged your brain before posting this.

The managers sacked very early on in season are those who have failed their clubs spectacularly.

You want Orient to appoint a proven failure?

So then by your argument JE was a failure because he was sacked by The Gills & Cobblers (sounds painful)

10 games is a decent period, especially as he is not new to the club, the squad and their strengths and weaknesses bar the new boys. But he has a 50% win rate thus far and that’s not too bad.

You quoted Smendrick, when he mentioned about us appointing a manager who got sacked elsewhere like JE & you used the term failure.
Are you admitting that your response to him was ridiculous b0ll0ck$

Yep, Russell will be a great choice but I think this fella needs a bit more than two games before we judge. I would give him 15 games.

That question is just a straw man. Managers are sacked early in the season for a variety of reasons. And being sacked early on does not necessarily make you a spectacular failure. If you are sacked early on nased on performance it just means you didn't meet the expectations of that club's board for the new season. Also if we only looked at managers who had never been sacked it would be a limited list.

I also cited Justin Edinburgh as someone sacked that was then available to us. He was sacked at the end of August, which according to you means he spectacularly failed his club (you've seemingly ruled out other reasons). Yet despite this he wasn't a failure based on both his career to that point or what he achieved at Orient afterwards. Did you not see that part or did you choose to ignore it?

Yes let's get a manager in who's never been promoted in over 25 years of management 🙄

As far as I can remember , Russell saved us from relegation and got us within two penalty kicks of getting us into the Championship. He also built a great team spirit before Beelzebub arrived and ruined everything.

Yeovil and Grimsby first time around.
You obviously think that taking Orient to 3rd behind two clubs who’s wage bills were three to four times ours is not a great achievement.
He was the best manager we have had since Petchey.

That goes to JE. To take a club falling apart on the playing side and turn them into Champions is a far greater achievement imo.

No, read my carefully worded post. If you omit words and take words out of context as you did, then it's easy to claim something other than what was said.

You really shouldn't stand by it. According to you Justin Edinburgh was a spectacular failure because he was sacked early in the 2017/18 season yet look at the huge impact he had at Orient. Which shows that alleged "spectacular failures" at one club can make a hugely positive impact at other clubs and therefore contradicts your point that I've not thought this through.

Yes he was a very good boss for us, but a) we've had a better one since then & B) I really think he's been out of the game too long & it's moved on (although not necessarily for the better)
As for the Chris Powell suggestion, you better ask Southend fans about him.
I'm at a loss to think of a suitable replacement for JE, so I want Embleton to be given a proper chance not 2 or 3 games.

Is this the same spen? Wasn’t he banned or something? Why does anyone bother with him?

Ignoring his bollocks about anyone that’s been sacked must be a spectacular flop, no one has factored in the possibility of appointing someone currently employed elsewhere. Someone who might want to step up into the football league, for example.
